feces will be dark in color and if you catch it fresh will be very wet and not a lot of solid..some parts could possibly be white..From a baby snake the pile may be small and could even be hidden under the substrate which will dry it out..It will keep it's dark color but the moistness will fade...I hope that helps..as for what kind of snake that is...I would say either a candy cane or an amel...the only reaso nI say amel is because I'm unsure if candy canes have red eyes..but that is a very pretty snake :0)

If you just got your snake yesterday you should not be holding him today, or you'll be asking what a regurg looks like. Read the faq and stickies under health and feeding issues.

Hey Sean, let me first tell you welcome to the forums. (Have not seen you around before). For your first question, feces should consist of solid brownish-black masses along with some yellowish fluids, and sometimes clear fluid too. Looking at the snake, its for sure an amel (or also called albino). This one will sure be a looker as an adult, due to the bright colors its expressing as a youngin'.

Also, as noted before, you probably should not be handling your snake right now. This is because corn snakes are very easy to stress out, just like humans. The snake just made a move, from one home to another, and that itself can make a young corn snake scared/stressed. Remember, as of right now, the corn thinks that you are a giant predator.

So for right now you shouldn't handle the snake, you should leave it alone for atleast 5 to 7 days, atleast 5 before you attempt to feed.

I suggest you also read some care sheets and get a few books, Kathy Love posts on this forum, but also has a wonderful book called "Corn Snakes, The Comprehensive Owner's Guide." This book is a wonderful resource that most of us who have been at it for a long time still reference too.

Good luck and if you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

I agree with snakes rule. Your snake is a nice looking amel. This is a picture of an orange candy cane.

ok, thanks guys! yeah i didnt know that he shouldnt be handled so quickly so ill let him chill out for a little bit, but i dunno if ill be able to wait 5 days to feed him since today is when he is supposed to be fed again (5 days since last feeding).

I totally follow a minimal handling policy for hatchlings until they are established and feeding well. Personally though, because I usually have them home and settled within 2 hours of buying them rather than them being shipped to me, I've fed the next day with no problems.
I'd recommend Kathy Love's book wholeheartedly, you can order it through WHSmiths :)

well he was supposed to eat yesterday according to the meal plan they told me to follow at petsmart. every 6-7 days. ive also heard every 5 but the hatchling can go awhile without eating, so im in a quandry about when i should try and feed again. i was gonna try tomorrow or sunday. not sure if hes just bein stubborn or is way too freaked to eat.

The poopy smells really bad..

and since we are on this topic of poop..once the snake gets older and is eating hoppers and mice (with fur) will there be like some hair in the stool? You know kinda looks like a hairball?

well i had tried to feed him on thursday and he refused, so i tried again saturday and once i left the room he jumped right on the pinkie haha. so i gave him somewhere around 20 minutes to relax and let the food go down, then i set the container in his cage and let him crawl out, but i didnt see a bulge in his stomach. i dont know if its cuz the pinkie is small or because his digestive juices are really strong lol. but i know he ate and thats all that matters. im leaving him alone for a few days so he wont regurge then ill handle him some this week to get him used to me and all. when should i feed again? friday or saturday?
