OK To Separate Babies At 18 Days?

I'm new at raising mice and wondered if there is a certain age that is safe to separate from the mother. One of my females had a litter 20 days after her first. Will the older ones keep the younger ones from getting enough food?

Another possible problem!

I have two litters which are now 14 and 17 days old together and both females show signs of giving birth again very soon. Should I take the 17 day old ones out first or just let the females give birth and then take all the older ones out?

I'm assuming the females will more or less keep the older ones out of the newborns nest but like I said I'm still a beginner at this.
 
21 days is the average weaning age, though colonies do differ. For the most part, once the young are eating the seed and not suckling, have fully open eyes, can find the water bottles on their own, and seem healthy and active...I pull them out. I also, of course, will cull at varying ages and freeze them for the future...
