older corns getting those stripes

I have a normal that I bought as an 06. With her last shed, overall she is darker than b4, and now I can see the darkening stripes down the back coming in like (I thought) very mature corns get. My sis's normal didn't get that until about 6 or 7 as we figured the age.
I was wondering if she might be really much older than 4. She hasn't grown in length since the shed, and really doesn't look young and vibrant anymore. The color is less contrast now overall, reds deeper. Is this just another those things that is different in every snake or a general 'rule of thumb' to guessing age?

To be honest, I really have no idea when my older snakes acquired the dark racing stripes, if ever. I really think it's variable and can happen at any point depending upon multiple factors.
