I will post more pictures soon... I promise :)

We just got back from our reptile store. Does anyone else have "their" store... you know, the only one you go to. The one you go to several times a week. You know all of the staff. They call YOU when they have questions. It is "your" store :) Some people have their coffee shops or their parks... we have "our" reptile store.

Anyway

We just got back, and with us now is the most TINY sandfire beardie. He is almost a year old, but still just barely more than hatchling size. He eats great, he is active, he is hydrated, he is alert... he just wont grow. In addition to that, he has a messed up back leg. His back right leg is very bowed and he does not use it much.

They did not want to put him down, but they (obviously) could not sell him. They asked us to take him, knowing that we will care for him and have him vetted, and regardless if he lives 6 months or 6 years, he will be spoiled with us. So yeah, of course we took him. He is PAINFULLY cute.

We are trying to come up with a good name. :)

Here are the pictures!!! The lighter is there for a size reference. He's in a 5 Gal tank, which probably feels like a mansion to him...:D

With a bad leg, and being so tiny, there could only be one possible name for him ..."Tiny Tim" !!!

by the way, he's got to be the cutest little guy I've seen! He's adorable, and so lucky to have someone like you to take him home and love him !

Cute, cute, cute. I love them when they're little.

I truly hope he's just a Sandfire Beardie and not a Sandfire morph. If he's a morph, then he's in pretty bad shape. :(

Make sure to get some good UVB on him quickly - it appears he's in dire need of it. If you want to know anything about them, or have questions on temps, supplements, prey sizes, etc, just give me a holler.

I love to help and know a good deal on them. :)

I think that he is a morph. I know that the shop just got in a bunch of morphs from a local breeder this year.. most were stunning, he is stunted and just not right :(

Day two, so far so good! :)

He is small for a year old! Does he like his veggies yet? I would suggest some real time in the actual sun..
I had a beardie when I was younger who lived in a huge outdoor cage- about 4'x3'x3'... and his favorite foods were snails (crunch crunch crunch) and dandylions. My mom loved him for the sake of her garden and decided to keep him when I moved out. She still has him to this day...

What's the difference between a sandfire beardie and a sandfire morph?
