One shed a month? is that normal

Hi chaps i'll try to be as clear as possible. I got Rachel in January she is probably around 7months old (ferret ripped the list i had) she was on baby mice when i got her (the newborn ones) for ten weeks (that's what the petshop advised) she then moved onto fuzzies. Well she has shed in January and now she has shed in Febuary (last shed was the 26 Feb) Is this normal for corns to shed monthly? also i fed her today and noticed that she was still hungrey so i gave her another fuzzie (no zombie dance needed) and she wolfed it down (giving me a right dirty look as if i'm an express service). although she did ate the day before she shed, but that was just one fuzzie and that was the size of a donkey. So what is happening to my girl is this a normal thing (i know they get hungrey after a shed but they where big fuzzies). Will my girl turn into a monster snake and take over the world whilst being hunted by Samuel L Jackson. So all you smart people please help.

One shed a month is normal for young snakes. Be careful about doubling up the prey size with a baby- it's a pretty big increase and could potentially cause a regurge. Lots of snakes stay in hunting mode for a while after eating. This doesn't mean it's healthy to feed them until they can't eat any more. It doesn't hurt to give a mature snake an extra mouse, but I myself wouldn't do it with a baby, unless you fed two smaller than normal prey items for some reason.

Sounds normal to me! The other night I was interested in finding out how many days inbetween sheddings my August has gone through, and turns out she shed every 26-27 days since I first got her. But just keep in mind that as they get older and bigger, their shedding becomes less frequent.

She certainly will if you feed on demand when she "looks hungry".

In the wild, they'll normally find nests of baby mice or chicks and eat the lot, because there's no guarantee that they'll find food again soon. That isn't true in captivity, where the next meal is going to arrive on schedule - it's just that they don't know that and will carry on hunting for the rest of the brood after eating one.

Just one at a time will be absolutely fine. Your gal is in no danger of starving anytime soon. The outcomes for an overfed obese snakie are the same as for a human - health problems and an early death. Time to make like a WeightWatchers group leader I'm afraid. Harden your heart the next time you think she's begging for more.

And yep, one shed a month is normal for youngsters. They slow down as they grow up - my adults shed four or five times a year.
