Blue Sky Reptiles
We went to Repticon Columbia SC today, mostly just to check it out. Well, you know how that goes... we came out with a hognose. We've been wanting one since we starting seeing them, because their little noses are so adorable.
Jeff from Cahaba River Reptiles did a presentation on western hognoses, which we sat in on. We spoke with him for a bit, and then afterward we went to his booth. We'd expressed interest in a hognose with "personality," and he tried to show us some of his snakes bluffing, but snakes are like cats in that they never do what you want them to.
He had a few little males, so my roommate had the tough choice of trying to pick the best one. Jeff pointed out one with really pretty, regular markings, and when my roommate took a look at him he flattened his head. So he came home with us.
We took these pictures trying to get him into his new cage. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but he actually did have his tiny little fangs bared.
Do you think he lives up to his name?
