Our Lonely Corn and Taiwanese Beauty

Gorgeous snakes specially the TBS.. My boyfriend is getting me a new one for my birthday and I also been thinking bout an anery... I understand bout the mallis I bred and raise Working german shepherds.. def not the show dogs.. I have 3 4mnth old german/czech bred pups here now and im fit to be tied right now.. hand fulls.. I understand its nice to deal with them and come in to a nice calm snakey.. lol.. just wash hands first lol..

:) Not even close to show dogs! I wouldn't have any others though. It's so much fun. So you breed working lines? Do you have a website I can check out? [I'm always on the fence as to what my next dog will be...Mali or GSD]

Thanks! The snakes are very relaxing; our corn, not so much right now - just because she's so young and has a constant need to get somewhere when she's out, but the TBS loves to chill on a lap while we watch a movie or on our shoulders while we surf the web.

Here are the latest from little miss Scarlett; she's almost 20 inches these days! I can't believe how quickly she's growing! The first is before she was fed and the rest are after. In the last picture you can see her big belly! She was giving me a lot of 'okay...photo shoot is over, mom...thanks' looks.

She's looking great, Katie!! I love that last picture... Her colors really "pop" in that one!

Haven't seen ya'll on in a while... Hoping all is well with you and Sheldon!

Thats a nice hypo. I may pick up a hypo stripe soon. That one almost looks like a christmas hypo

Thanks, Fred! It's been a while since I've been on here but she has been doing very well. She just shed last week so she was feeling fancy free in her new clothes :) Things are hectic, but everything is going well. He surprised me when he brought that Columbian home - I didn't even know we were getting another one, yet! How have you been lately? All of your snakeys are well?

I love miss Scarlett - her colors are turning out very nice - her red is almost turning to a burnt orange and her orange is getting almost fluorescent. I've never heard of a christmas hypo; but I'm definitely going to look them up! Thanks for the nice words!

Thanks again! She's my first snake and it's so nice to get so many compliments on her! She's a sassy little thing and we're thinking once she's old enough and big enough, we'll try breeding her.

The snakes and I have been fine, THANKS! :) If I were you, I'd be elated to have Optimus in the house to add to your already fine snakes. LOL.

So at the age of 7(ish) our Taiwanese ate her very first F/T tonight! I have had to throw away a few mice/rats in the past trying to get her to switch over from live. Tonight in a spur of the moment test, Katie thawed out a crawler from our baby Columbian's (Optimus) dinner bag. We soaked it in some hot water, dried it off and set it in front of her in the middle of the living room floor. After about 15-20 seconds of nudging it with her snout she finally gulped it down (literally.. she is over 7 feet and ate a crawler). I am eager for next week so we can test out a full size rat. I thought this day would never come....

It's such a relief - I thought for sure she'd dismiss it once she realized it wasn't alive; but after careful thought and study she finally decided it was suitable! :)

Scarlett's colors are really standing out! I like how she has a teeny stripe running down her neck. Enjoy!

Thank you! I'm sure Scarlett appreciates all the nice words =] She's really turning out to be a sweet girl, too.

What a stunning little corn! =)

Oooooh, I'm so envious of your TBS. She's not only absolutely gorgeous, but docile?? My girl just wants to eat me--literally!! And it's always fun dealing with a 6-or-so foot snake who's determined to ingest your hand... ;)

How great that your beauty finally switched to F/T, too!! Talk about a vast difference in personality, though--you know how I mentioned "Lucy" wants to eat my hand? That attitude translates to anything warm, moving, and/or rodent-smelling that crosses her path, so it was absolute cake to switch her... Lol. (It's so cute when they gulp down too-small prey items, too. Especially when they then proceed to give you this pleading puppy-dog look like they're expecting another "treat"...)

The good Dr. (thanks for the nick name Fred!) wasn't always and isn't always so tame. It took some time, she used to see movement and figured she had to eat what ever it was. She has eyed up our 105lbs German Shepherd on more than one occasion (good thing we keep some good distance between the 2. But she has definitely gotten better over the years. It took some good solid bites while getting her out for her to finally chill out and figure out that being handled is fun. My technique was just take the bites and act unfazed and just stick to getting her out. Now when its time to be handled she just slithers right up to me most the time, if she doesn't and puts up a little fight then I know she REALLY doesnt want to be out and just to leave her be.

She has always been easy to feed as long as it scurried across the floor and apparently my dragging dead rats wasn't good enough acting for her in the past :) I would love to see some pictures of your Lucy! TBS's are by far one of my favorites.

Hah... I've thought about trying to tame my girl down, but I'm too much of a wuss and my dad (the "bite-shield") is an even bigger wuss. It really is a food thing with her, too... The only time she can be handled "without incident" is while she's blue (AKA: not hungry). =P

I really do need to get some new pics of Lucy... She's making the dreaded (and temporary) transfer from her spacious tank to a "lowly" tub (in hopes of getting a fecal sample) this week. I'll make sure to snap some pictures while I'm at it. =)

Thats kind of funny.. when ours is in blue thats when I'm still extra careful if I need to handle her because she just becomes the moodiest snake.
