Packing up for the Mid Atlantic Show

Things might get messy driving through North Carolina with Ophelia offshore, but I'm hoping it will be cleared out by the time we go through there. With evacuations along the coast, finding a motel for Thursday night could be a problem, I suppose.

For anyone waffling on the idea of attending the MARS show, and are interested in buying some corns, I am advising you to go there. I will be having some VERY attractive prices there on some things that will definitely make it worth your while. I am considering a "Mid Life Crisis" purchase, so I want to drum up some cash in case I can't resist this urge that has overtaken me. So here's an excellent chance for you all to take advantage of this weakness that has overtaken me. Bring *cash* please......

Stop torturing me. It is too far from me!!! 10 hours each way! With the cost of Gaz I would have to morgage my house LMAO!

Good show to you and to all that will go.

Hmm... anybody else saying 'midlife crisis purchase' would have me thinking of a red sports car. With Rich, it's probably a really snazzy rifle or something. ;)

I was thinking more like a military issue Humvee complete with 2 inch undercarriage blast plate and .50 caliber cannons mounted on top.

:crazy02:

Rich drives for well over 10 hours each way, just to eat fresh steamed blue crab.

Just a thought.

In 2002 Hurley and I made a 28 hour drive from Denver, CO to Daytona. It was an additional 9 or so hours at the beginning and end of the trip (Denver to DesMoines) for Hurley, too.

In 2004 we made the drive from Chicago, which was about 16 hours each way, IIRC.

Just get a small motorcycle, it'll only cost you about $50 in gas that way. :grin01:

Not this time, Kat. I'm being a bit more mainstream with this Mid Life Crisis thing. Of course, I'm not really sure what that term means, but every time I mention this hankering I have for this new toy, that's what I get in response from people....... Of course, I must be a late bloomer, because I am now 55 years old, and I doubt I'm going to live to be 110 years old!

Anyway, here's a pic of what I am lusting after these days. Can't afford a new one, but a used one might be something I can swing if I try real hard.

I just can't picture you in a Vette, Rich.

I myself would love a 350z---those things honk.

Good taste, Rich! I, too, would love to have a Corvette. Personally, I'd rather have a classic than a newer one though.

A '72 with T-Tops and removable rear window gets me goin!

Yeah, completely illogical and impractical. Must be a throwback from my high performance days when a person could afford to do something like that. I remember spending $5 per day on gasoline when it cost less then 50 cents a gallon. That was on my GTO that I heavily modified, and it just LOVED that Sunoco 260 fuel I put into it.

Surprisingly enough, the newer vettes actually get excellent gas mileage. Probably better then my other, more practical, vehicles. Of course, if Connie and I were to run to the grocery store in the vette, in order to bring the groceries back home, one of us would have to stay at the store so there would be enough room for the bags.

No, I'm not sold on the idea of actually getting one, as I can feel the practical side of me fighting hard with that dark side of me. The way I look at it, I probably have about 5 more years where I can still keep up the pace with SerpenCo and maybe be able to afford a toy like this. After that, well, not sure what is going to happen, but both Connie and I cannot keep up the physical demands of this business forever. So even if I buy a vette and only keep it for a year, at least I can say I had one...... to those other old guys in the old folks home that can't escape my reminiscing about the "good old days".

Heh..Rich you're killing me !

My In-Laws live in Frederick, Md., my Wife attended MARS a couple times in the late 90's. She just said if we want to make an unplanned trip to see them this weekend, we can go..LOL !

Granted, after driving 8 hours to their place late Friday night, heading to the show, then turning around and driving back 8 hours to Michigan....I'd save money and a headache just ordering the damn 04 Lav Motleys I keep drooling over !!

BTW, the big fringe of marrying a girl from Maryland is getting served steamed Blue crab dinner at least once each visit to the In-Laws ! Here in Michigan fresh seafood is damn hard to find.

Hope the show goes well for you...maybe I'll make that "mid life crisis" donation via the site soon...;) . My wife is 13 weeks pregnant..so my "mid lifer" is having a new baby !
