Pealing Scales and sneezing

luvmycorn

My corn is my god
i gave my snake a bath and she sneezed after she put her head under the water. i am pretty sure that this was just getting the water out of her passages. also, she is going into shed and her scales on her head have been coming off. just the shed layer, but u am worried that this is a condition and i should be worried. i dont have any pix but they are all starting to peal off and i am worried. also i have been able to open her mouth, she is not gaping but i can, is this bad? PLEASE ANSWER!

I wouldn't worry about the sneezing. Snakes don't typically sneeze when they have a respiratory infection anyway, what you'd see is her blowing bubbles and breathing with her mouth open. How long has she been blue?

well, she has been blue for about 2 days (her tummy) but her eyes arnt blue yet. this happends very time she has a shed about 2-3 weeks befr. is she ok? she is eating normally! what about the mouth thing?

Well, if she's been blue only a couple days, she probably has a week to go. I'm not sure I understood the mouth question. Is it normal for you to be able to open her mouth? Yes.

thank you SO much. onnnneeee more question. is it normal for my corn to be hiding in her hide ALL the time?

How old is your corn? If he is still young he will tend to stay in hiding for while. Even when a corn is grown they spend most of he day hiding, its natural for a high colored snake to hide during the day to avoid being eaten. When you go to bed turn all the lights off, and i guarantee after 10 Min's your corn will be out exploring, we have a ow watt bulb which our snakes don't seem to mind, i spend hours watching them once the lights are turned down.

i dont know how old she is but she is about 18 inches. thats the other q. how old is ur corn if it is 18 inches? mine ALWAYS comes out when the lights are off. she loves the dark! accept when she is digesting, then she spends days under the fluff!!! never refused a meal!

Eh? what do you mean fluff?

It is especially normal for your corn to be hiding when she is blue. You would normally not see her at all during that time period. And as just a baby in general, she may hide almost all of the time, too.

okay, so i am stressed again. the pealing scale i was talking about came off her crown and now the scale underneath is kind of wrinkly and lighter than the others. anything to worry about, or is she ok? will it be ok with her shed?

yeah. i dont have a camera now. her belly is milky so yeah i am sure she is shedding. will it clear up after she sheds? i am SO worried!

Stop worrying. On average corn snakes take between 30mins to a couple of hours. Take a look at your snake, it should look as if the dead skin is peeling down its body, a bit like taking a sock off.

ummm.... she will shed in a bout a week. she isnt shedding now. i want to know if the wrinkled dulled head scales will return to normal after she sheds in a week,
