I've got some '01 females that are almost big enough (right around the 33"-34" size), and I'm sure they'll be plenty big come spring IF I keep them out of brumation all winter. So, I'm doing the same thing.
I'm going to keep them warm and feed them. If they take a breeding, fine. If not, it's OK because they wouldn't have been big enough if I'd brumated them anyway. I've never not brumated an animal then tried to breed it before, so I have no idea how it will work. If Don says he's only experiencing a 2% difference in fertility from the males, and the females are receptive, that sounds encouraging to me!
I'm still a smaller operation than you guys (Kevin and Clint) are. I only have 5 full-sized adults that I know will breed next spring. However, with these big yearlings and smaller two-year olds, I'll have possibly eight to ten more breeding as well.
The next year? I don't even want to THINK about the next year!!!
Logic: Vinny tried to sell me those bloods het for hypo, but I was strapped for cash at the time. Could you post some pics so I can what else I've missed out on?
