Peek-A-Boo

Here's mine......

Great pics Kevin!

I just put all of my adults and 2 1/2 yr olds to bed. I've got 50 snakes in brumation this year. That takes a lot of the pressure off, I'll be able to get some new pics soon.

I've got a few of those slow growers too, I guess they're just on their own growth schedule no matter how much we feed!

hehe...

I'm on a later schedule. Im due to stop feeding my adults 2 weeks from now and plan on putting them in suspended animation on Dec 1st. Its a shame. I just ran out of adult mice and now have to purchase some more for the last 2 weeks worth of feedings...

50 Adults. Whoa... Im at a much smaller scale at this point. I have 15 for sure im brumating this season with another 10 or so I'm not sure about. Im happy with their weights/lengths but they are only 01's... I'll probably end up letting them go another year. Come next year though, I'm doomed. hehe.

Great photo Clint. Glad to hear you'll finally have some extra time on your hands for new photos. I cant wait to see them...

Brumating '01's......

I've got some large babies that I'm sure will go in thier 2nd year. The females were not in question, I was going to keep the up and feeding all winter. I had some question about the males fertility that I wanted to use next year that are '01's. I talked to Don Soderberg about it and he said he keeps all of his yearlings up and feeding throughout the winter to get better size with only a 2% difference in fertility. I'm going to keep all of my yearlings up and feeding also.

I think I'm about maxed out as far as size and numbers go. If I expand much more I'd have to add on to my building.
I'm also about stretched as far as I want to go work wise. I want this to remain fun and not become a second job! ;)

Keep up the good work Kevin!

just wondering.....

Hey Kevin did u make it out to the show yesterday?? just wondering cause I got myself a pair that I wil be posting pics of soon.

Hey, I have one of those....Peek-a-boo!

Nice pics, guys!

:D :D :D

Wow those pictures are great!!!!

Wow!! Clint and Kevin you two have a lot of adults ready to breed already!!!!!!

I only have around...10-15 of them ready......
but in 2004 I should have more to breed....hopfully......

Very nice pictures!!

Clint: That was my thought exactly. I'm happy with their sizes and was pretty confident that they'd be ready to go but I didnt want to push them too early. Any offspring I produce are just a byproduct of my hobby so I'm not in any rush. I'm in agreement with you and Don. I pretty much came to the conclusion that I'd keep them feeding and at normal temps during winter and let nature take its course next season. But I just wasnt 100% on it yet.

Hurley: Nice "Peek-A-Boo", love the photo. Took a few more shots today myself as I was playing with them all. Going to check out how the photo's came out and post some more later. Seems like a fun enough theme. :)

Logic: I really intended to make it to the show yesterday or today but I came down with a harsh cold (It better just be a cold!) and just wasnt up to it. If memory serves me right from previous years there arent very many corns available at this point anyway. Or at least thats what I keep telling myself. heh...

More Peek-A-Boo's to come!

well under most circumstances u would be right but I guess I got lucky for once in my life lol I always see people talking about the deals they get with some people getting yearling lavenders for like 30 bucks and stuff like that. Vinnie Richie did have some Ambers het for Motley for 200 but at that price I wasnt intersted I think I would rather have a Butter Motley for that price. Even if he was asking 100 bucks I dont think I would have taken it since Vin Russo had the pair of Bloods het for Hypo for 80 bucks I had to jump at that deal!!! and I still have a hypo lavender and a pair of silver queen ghosts on the way from Rich. cant wait to post pics of those guys

Danny D.

I've got some '01 females that are almost big enough (right around the 33"-34" size), and I'm sure they'll be plenty big come spring IF I keep them out of brumation all winter. So, I'm doing the same thing.

I'm going to keep them warm and feed them. If they take a breeding, fine. If not, it's OK because they wouldn't have been big enough if I'd brumated them anyway. I've never not brumated an animal then tried to breed it before, so I have no idea how it will work. If Don says he's only experiencing a 2% difference in fertility from the males, and the females are receptive, that sounds encouraging to me!

I'm still a smaller operation than you guys (Kevin and Clint) are. I only have 5 full-sized adults that I know will breed next spring. However, with these big yearlings and smaller two-year olds, I'll have possibly eight to ten more breeding as well.

The next year? I don't even want to THINK about the next year!!!

:p

Logic: Vinny tried to sell me those bloods het for hypo, but I was strapped for cash at the time. Could you post some pics so I can what else I've missed out on?

Darin which Vinny are u talking about??
Vinny Richie did have some reguler bloodreds at the show
but I got my bloodreds from Vin Russo
anyway heres a pic of the Female she already ate a pinky from me
I havn't tried to feed the male yet. Sorry about the poor pic
I really need a digital camera.

My mistake. I thought you were still talking about Vinnie Ritchie. HE'S the one that was trying to sell me some bloodreds (I THOUGHT they were het hypo, but I guess I could be mistaken about that TOO) a while back.

Not to self: Actually READ the threads thoroughly BEFORE asking questions!
