Actually, in the west it's Cal Zoo (California Zoological Supply.)
Yep, I stand corrected.

With knowledge like this, you should work in a...... :sidestep:

I peek at my local PetCo quite often, I got a HOT female Ghost there once upon a time... Trevor now has her  (*cough* which I'm still waiting to see a photo of *cough*) My first snake was from PetCo my big Amel, he's "muh baybeh".

I've seen at mine Normals, Amels, Anery, Snows, Hypos, infact I pretty much know when they get them in and I drop in on those days... :grin01: Course I've only ever bought 2 from PetCo, when they run a sale where they are 29.99 each, its not too bad of a deal, and I know them to be quite well cared for and healthy, as I have had 2 successful corns from there... k now I'm rambling...

Right now the Petco in Lakewood, WA (southish of Tacoma) has a yearling hypo and two big ghost hatchlings (probably 6 mos) among their usual amels and snows. I was amazed to see the hypo. He's definitely a year old and very nicely coloured, very sweet natured, too. One of the girls who works in the reptile dept was also surprised they got in something so large and so nice.

Steve is from Petco, he's a ghost. He turned out fine, but I wouldn't recommend getting anything there. The stores around here SUCK! Everything else I've ever bought died or was sick. I try not to go there.

These two came from the local Petco...

For any newbies when I asked the price of "Anery" the Asst. Manager looked at me and said, and I quote, "Oh, but these are corn snakes."

...sigh.... why do they have to do that???? She still looks like she has a great pattern.

My PetCo takes pretty rotten care of its herps. They have the baby beardies on CalciSand, and the guy game over while I was looking at them and shaking my head and started trying to sell me on them. I said "You know, with babies that small, the sand substrate is a pretty big impaction risk." And he said "Yeah, I know some things about impaction. *pause* It's calci-sand though." I looked at him and said "That's the worst kind. It doesn't digest. It just packs down in their gut. I've seen X-Rays of baby beardies with the stuff all wedged in their intestines. Anyway, thanks for your time."

Impaction Article

And here is the pic that I wish I had had with me, from a poster whose baby Beardie cost him hundreds of dollars to save after it ingested T-Rex Calci-Sand, a little bit at a time with each passing cricket.

For that and other reasons I am none too fond of my local PetCo. In fact, the only reason I ever went in there is because I ended up with a PetCo gift certificate. They have a nice selection of hides and other accessories for Hokie, but I still prefer to give my business to PETsMART or Foster & Smith.
