Philadelphia Dog Show! DU Warning!!!

Eriathiel

Short and Sweet
Ok, well I'm going to have to do this in sections since I can't upload more then 5 at a time...

Anyway, last Sat. I went to the National Dog Show hosted by the Philadelphia Kennel Club. It was my first dog show, and I LOVED it! I took lots of pictures, lots of random dogs we saw, and then best in group and finally best in show.
I won't tell who won best in show because its going to be shown on NBC on Thanksgiving day - so go watch it!

Below is the welcome sign, me with an irish wolfhound (SOOO sweet!), Topps the Lab, Australian Shepards in the show ring, and Cairn Terriers in the show ring...

Ok - Now a chinese crested, MY FAVORITE - this Irish Setter was the sweetest guy in the show!, a clumber spaniel, and a giant schnauzer!!!

I wish I could have taken the irish home...

If you notice in the last picture the dog in the background is squatting, it was rather funny - he was in best in show and took a poop during the middle of a walk around! Then a guy in a tux came out to clean it up...

Just a couple more of the dogs that made it to best in show - I'll post more pictures later, I haven't had a chance to go through them all! P.S. The first picture is of the guy in a tux cleaning up the dog poo!

Looks like you had an awesome time. I'm glad I'm not the only one who is in love with the Chinese Cresteds!

Thanks for sharing! :D

I'm SOO jealous! That looks like a great show and those pictures are awesome. I'd looooove to go to one someday :)

I did thanks! I had to laugh when I watched the Chinese Cresteds, they are such funny little dogs! There were actually a large number of them there too!

You should! Its so neat! I always wanted to show a dog, and this has made me want to even more... it will be at least five years but I plan to spend that continueing to familiarize myself with the show world and talking to breeders - most breeders / handlers there were soooo nice!

Wow! Your really saw some beautiful dogs! And it looks like you had a great time! I hope to be able to go to a dog show eventually :0)

awesome! I'd love to go to a do show. Not sure if that's even the right breed name. Looks like it was fun and that you got good photo ops.

Looks like a ton of fun!! My guy and I were laughing about the guy in the tux cleaning the dog poop!! Thanks for a laugh!!

I love watching the shows on tv but it makes me sad that our yellow lab seems to have a really bad case of ADHD. He knows his tricks but seems to forget them the minute something more interesting comes around!

Thanks for sharing the pictures!! Someday I'll get to one of these!

Wow I watch that show every Thanksgiving. Glad I don't know the outcome lol. I always wanted to show the Rough Collie. After showing horse, dogs, sheep & rabbits. Dogs where always something I wanted to try my hand at. Glad you had a great time & super pictures.

OH MY GOSH! The picture of you with MY FAV DOG OF ALL TIMES the Irish Wolfhound is a great one. One day I WILL own one that I have sworn to my daughters. I have WANTED one since I was 8 years old and saw a picture of one in the "world book encyclopedia"...LOL

Thanks so much for sharing all those great pics with us. I'll be watching the show tomorrow and can't wait to see it.

I have lot's of favorite dogs, when it comes to the hairless though, I really like a black Xolo dog, lol. They look so demonic..
Cool pictures, looks like fun!

Thanks for sharing. I love watching the dog shows and seeing all the different breeds.
My childhood wish was for an Irish Setter. Now I'm hooked on Dobermans but when my big guy passed, I rescued a non-Dobe pup.

Can you PM me the winner? I won't get to watch the dog show... Its football with the family.

I'd love to get into actually handling/showing myself too. Too bad my dog breed is said to be the hardest...Chow Chows! But someday I'll be able to take on that challenge ;-).

I loved showing the husky we had when I was young. I've thought about getting into it again, but not with a husky. Great pics...are you sure you didn't give away the winner? LOL

I watched that today at work. Loved the pointer! I was surprised with the dog going to the bathroom in the ring. In obedience, we were disqualified if the dog relieved itself in the ring. Those breed dogs get away with murder :) Looks like you had a great time though.
