Pied Sided Trait?

iculatr

NO...WIRE...HANGERS!!!
Very basic question: how does the pied sided trait work?

I recently acquired a male Granite p/het hypo pied sided, and I'm wondering if I need a female pied sided or het pied sided in order to produce pied sided hatchlings? If i got just a female ghost blood, will the pied sided trait still come through? Any help on this is much appreciated.

I am pretty sure that the pied sided is the same as the other morph. You would need another snake caring the pied sided trait to produce pied sided babies. You could breed your two snakes together and have het pied sided babies and breed those together and get pied sided.

We're still not entirely sure how the pied-sided trait inherits, as there have been more low-expression pied popping up in unrelated lines. My pet theory is that it is either a polygenic trait that has a cumulative effect (say, 10 genes total, 3-5 genes present in one animal gives low exp, 5-8 med expression, 8-10 high expression) or simply a natural side effect of the extreme diffusion being bred for in the bloodreds.
