My first clutch is starting to pip I first noticed it about 6:30 pm yesterday. So far 4 have pipped but none have completely come out of there egg just sticking there head out. My question is how long before they come all the way out of the egg? And how long before all the eggs pip? The female is a charcol corn the male is a snow corn. so far 2 look like the mom and 2 have just pink and white heads havent seen anymore of them yet I'll try to get some pictures up tonight

Not about the pipping question but........

Congrats!

If you’re getting all "black" (Anery A or B) and Amel babies, then something is a little off in the equation. I'll attempt to explain:

1. Obviously, the female is het Amel, as evidenced by the Amel babies.

2. If the non-Amel hatchlings are in fact "Anery (A or B)" and not normal, then either the female is not Charcoal or the male is actually a Blizzard and not a Snow.

I'll give you an idea of what I'm talking about. These are the only possible scenarios:

0.1 Charcoal, het Amel x 1.0 Snow:
50% Amel, dh Anery and Charcoal
50% Normal, dh Blizzard and Anery

0.1 Anery, het Amel x 1.0 Snow:
50% Snow
50% Anery, het Amel

0.1 Charcoal, het Amel x 1.0 Blizzard
50% Blizzard
50% Charcoal, het Amel

Everyone confused??? :)

Is it possible the 2 with pink and white heads are snows I am not sure what a snow hatchling looks like. Also how long wil they stay in the egg with just there head sticking out? And what is the normal time frame from when the first one pipps to when we could expect the last to pip

Just my experience~~~~~:~

Our eggs here started to pip and seem to "come out" in small groups. After they first start 6 - 8 hours the first 3-4 babes were out. The next 6-8 hours another 4 - 8 were out and then the last group, seemed to take a little longer, 3-4 babes taking 8 - 10 hours. The whole thing taking over two days. We just finished our last "batch", actually there are still two sitting in the eggs with just their heads out and they have been that way all day (12 hours).

Cav... I really appreciate your ability to break down the gene pool. I'm determined to figure the whole thing out I thought that I had two amels in our first clutch, turns out they are hypo not amels at all - could this be going on with jomara? The truth is I have no idea what any of our babes really are but before they are a year old I'll have it figured out. Thanks again, Sam ~~~~~~:~
