WOW Thanks a lot I Have gained much respect for you today, I know we all have out problems but you noticed what you have done and corrected it as coon as you could, and I am not going to hold that against you.

You have contributed lots and as soon as we saw there was a problem we backed off and hope we cause no harm. But the main thing is you apologized and didn’t do this crap like R_A has done, that is why I am not so eager to forgive and forget.

But I do thanks you for your understanding, and you have redeemed yourself on this forum and personally I have never had any problems with you, but if you ever need help I know if several people on this forum that would lend a helping hand out to you. You have found a friend and I have gained all lost respect back.

Thanks.

I didn't post for that, but it means a lot.

I just hope this kid can do something about it before it's 2 late. I nearley lost this membership and i don't want anyone to go through what happened to me, but it is differant circumsises (sorry for spelling), but if i can help him out i will, but like i say it's up to him now.

Cheers Mangrove

Well Oldhand, you're still a yungun yourself, but your reply is the best on this string. We come here to network and learn. If he wants to learn and move forward in his love of snakes and the hobby, then he has the opportunity and it is not our place to belittle him, but give him a chance to learn and grow. To become a better person and a better herper. Kudos!!

Old hand, I have offered help and advice. Don't be suprised if you don't get a response. I have acted like the "moral police" before, and though everyone wanted to attack him, I offered help and advice to R_A. He seems to be more interested in a war with everyone else. :shrugs:

I have since listened to D80, which is why I don't respond to R_A's posts anymore, unless it is asking for advice I can give, and not an all out verbal combat.

R-A hasn't been in touch with me, which is a shame i think as we both could have learnt something. The offer still stands, but it doesn't look like s/he is going to get in touch :shrugs: .

i remember a few years ago when i was R-A's age i also made a few mistakes with snakes (never to cause death) that i regretted. i also remember going to snake shows and wishing i knew as much about snakes as everyone else there did. i wanted to fit in (probably what he wants to do) so sometimes i shot the bull to try and do that. i soon realized that it doesn't really work so i started reading. then i grew up and told a really great story about it in a snake forum.

I’m am sure we all make mistakes, but the whole thing with R_A is that he could not admit it and he kept lying and trying to weasel his way out of it. It is hard to understand why we are so mad at him if you were not part of the whole "fight".

He had 3 snakes and he kept changing their causes of death then he said he was getting them checked for parasites. But there was no need to because one of them dies from drowning and the other died form chemicals.

I know everyone who was not part of it probably doesn’t understand why we were flipping out on him but the thing he said and actions he took were uncalled for.

But we didn’t want him to ever have to leave this site. We would be more than happy to hear an apology and get over this whole messy matter. So OldHand if you can get a hold of him then that would be great, I do not think that anyone wants to yell at him but just wants to sit down and figure this whole thing out. :wavey:

Addict, unless I have mistaken you with someone else, I responded to an earlier thread with advice. I then answered your private messages, and took time to explain and forward links and a care sheet for you. My thanks was the only negative "rep" points I'd ever received when I suggested you hold off on acquiring a new specimen until you had more experience!
I'm not, nor was ever "mad." No one dislikes you, I just don't think you are taken seriously. The chicken thread and such have seemed like you are baiting us to have some fun! Your posts have been more inconsistent than Jesse Jackson at a Florida Hospice, and the wording has conveniently opened up some zingers. PLEASE, just opine if you have experience in the matter at hand. Your advice has been treated like Micheal Jackson being a cub scout troop leader for a reason.

It what i did with myself's and it worked to a good degree with me, i'm just glad i had the oppertunity to talk to a few people off here and sort through it.

R_A can do the same and has had 2-3 offers for help that i know off other then myself and the offer stands, and maybee what s/he need's to know where their upto in the reptile world. I know a fair bit about corns, but not everything, like everyone on here we all know more about some aspect's then others but we all have a general understanding that we are here to help and advice each other's weak area's.

R_A you know where i am and this is my last post on the matter unless you get in touch, those are my honest thought's and it does apply to you, and everyone on here.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOKAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. I've been half-way following this thread and I don't give a damn if RA has "made some mistakes". The point is that RA's complaining about DAND becase DAND told him to step back for a while and learn a few things. For those who haven't noticed (which will probably be a majority of you) I have been a member of this forum for almost a year, but have only been participating for about three months. This is the kind of thing that DAND is telling you to do RA. READ AND LEARN. I thought I knew just about everything I needed to know about my snakes, but since I've been on here, I have noticed that there is a lot of good advice floating around that I had never thought of (I think that comes with being a 'beginr'). I really don't care how old you are. I started keeping corns when I was 11, but the first thing I did was LEARN, not give advice. I was in contact with Don constantly for about three months just learning what I needed to do and what basic problems to expect. I, unfortunately, didn't know about this forum until last year, at which point I sat back and did some more learning. I am also, still, looking up care sheets and I keep re-reading my corn snake manual, as well as any other snake book I can get my hands on. From what I have seen in this thread, DAND was "dead on balls accurate" with what he said. If you are going to decide to complain about it, do it somewhere else, NOT on this forum.

Amen!

Obviously R_A thought I was picking on him. If that was my intention this would not have been my first post in this thread.

hmmmm

Suggestion:

Delete this thread before further flaming and anger erupts. It seems to be reiterating the same point over and over and over and over ... well you get the point. This kid obviously doesnt care, so let it go people.

I must admit, the elitest attitude I have witnessed as of late on this message board has caused me to not visit it very frequently anymore. It is sad that adults can sit and bicker and moan about stuff like this instead of just letting the kid make his mistake.

I am not in any way justifying his actions, merely stating that perhaps instead of puffing up our perverbial chests on how wise and knowledgable we are...we should be focusing that energy elsewhere.

Just my two cents, flame me if you want.

OC

OC, I do agree with you but I need to amen to what E.g.g said. I've also been around here for an age, but I really didn't post much in my first year. I made an effort to read EVERY SINGLE THREAD on this forum as my homework before asking questions of my own. I don't think I gave any advice at all until I'd been a cornsnake owner for over a year.

You should also see all my 'favorites' pages I've found and stored from the net which are still great resources and like E.g.g, I'm still always referring to my (dog-eared) copy of Kathy Love's book.

Perhaps his boastfulness is a way of trying to 'fit in with the cool kids' but unfortunately, most saw through it...

...there's not really a great deal of point to this post...but what the hey, just giving my 2 cents too!
