PLEASE HELP ME STOP THIS SICK BEHAVIOUR

Some imbecile has decided to film a tarantula fighting it out with a defenslive cornsnake.

I am so upset seeing this on YOU TUBE and i warn you guys to only watch it if you really want to cause you may it distressing.

Spider Eats Snake

I want to get as many people behind me to STOP horrid behaviour towards snakes in which people film and post on YOU TUBE. I want to get in touch with You Tube and ask them to take all the nasty videos off there site in which people show causing distress to both cornsnakes and other snakes and animals in general.

If you have an account with You Tube please tell these people what you exactly think of them.

I just hope that this little corn didn't suffer too much

Thank you for listening to me..

As horrible as it is, stuff like this is all over youtube, and getting into flame wars with the user of the video won't solve anything :(

I wont click the link, dont want to see that because I also would probably feel very sick and angry, but.. as the lady said, there are many videos around youtube like this, and the staff of youtube must be too busy because they never seem to do anything about it, I guess once you have over 1m videos it becomes hard to control.. but they should have thought about that..

I dont know if it will help, but I went and flagged it as inappropriate. In the "Terms of Use" for YouTube, it states "Don't post videos showing dangerous or illegal acts, like animal abuse, drug abuse, or bomb making". I do not know if they will consider this animal abuse, but it didnt hurt to try.

:eek1: A mouse would have been better. Although I do agree it is sick. You can't do anything. People will still do it and not video tape it. Just because it's not on YT doesn't mean it won't happen. I also flagged the video by the way.

Yes there are... but a spider eating a cornsnake would be very rare to happen in the wild.

People do post videos on there of there pet snakes eating. I dont agree with it but at the end of day they are only eating.

what this is bloke on YOU TUBE was just bang out of order and doing it just for fun.

Hey, I don't like it, but aren't there videos of corn snakes (and other snakes) subduing and eating live rodents?
Yeah. I agree. It's the same voilence. But still... it's not right for the tarantula to be feeding on a snake.. IMO

My Shelby The Snake has just made a statement and he said:

" I want to stand up to these bullies and give us Cornsnakes equal rights and not to be used as fun"

My tarantula just told me to tell you "The snake was FOOD not Fun!!!!!! okay, maybe a little fun!!!" :roflmao:

Is it any more horrible for me to feed a hatchling corn snake to one of my king snakes? If that corn snake was a problem feeder that was going to die anyway, I don't have a problem with it. However, posting things like that on YouTube is not exactly appropriate, but as it has been mentioned, corn snakes eating mice, etc has been posted there, and I'm sure many other things that we just haven't stumbles across yet.

I dont think its wrong.

How many people feed corns to kings, etc?

You dont know the background behind that corn snake. It may have been a non-feeder that someone woulda just tossed into the freezer or into a king tank. Whats the difference btwn feeding a corn to a king, and feeding a corn to a tarantula?

Yea its disturbing. But he didnt have live footage of the animal dying. It was a series of pictures.

Its not that rare in the wild either, for Tarantulas to eat cold blooded animals. Hell, in a leopard gecko book i have it shows pics of a spider dragging around a dead gecko..?

I think it's exactly the same thing but it hurts more to some than to others, I think that people who don't have snakes but love rodents as pets don't like to see them being lunch, anda all they get from us snake keepers is, it's natural, it's not a pet it's food, but hey, that tarantula owner can and will problably say the same thing to you, it's natural, it's food, etc...

Being a tarantula keeper and corn keeper, I see no problem with feeding a T a snake. I wouldn't feed a healthy snake, only one that had problems. I would also prekill the snake.

The issue with these things for me isn't really the act itself. As others have said, I don't see it's any worse than feeding a mouse to a snake, though I do prefer dead over live.

I think the real issue is that someone wants to film it and slap it up on YouTube. In my opinion that's for nothing more than shock value and to see peoples' reactions (after all, we're talking about it!)

I really do appreciate your good intentions, but even if YouTube removed all the videos from the site, it doesn't solve anything. Just because it isn't filmed and posted on the web doesn't mean it isn't still happening.

OK peeps. Thanks for your comments so far i am very gratefull..

Thats the only trouble with me and my snakes... I have a deep deep passion for all types of snakes and seeing it stuff like that just makes me really upset i am really over sensitive for them.

I know snakes are not perfect either but since owning one i have got so attached to it and I kinda wrap my Shelby up in cotton wool :awcrap: I always give him the best of everything i have even got him to poo on a potty lol :crazy02:

I am mad on snakes, i just think they are wonderful creatures that are very intelligent and have the most amazing colours and i don't know about you guys out there but they seem to be very loyal to there owner where they know food is coming from, not once has Shelby gone for me or rejected what i have feed him.

The snakes I have seen on here so far are gorgeous it really makes me wanna take all of them home with me (I am not a nut really!)

But when people put videos on there like that i just cant handle it.. i just hope that little corn didn't suffer

And lastly... Always give your snake(s) a little cuddle now and then (if they let you do that) and tell he or she how much you love them :)

Sorry for going on..

In all honesty, snakes are not very intelligent at all, and most would prefer not to be cuddled. :shrugs:
