My 7 month old corn didn't shed the end of her tail properly, but I bathed her and let her rub through a towel the next day but the very tip of her tail (only about 1mm) looks a brownish colour? What does this mean??
 
Soak again. The tail tip will lose blood circulation and die. You can VERY VERY gently see if it will rub off, after a nice 30 minute soak, but you can also rub the whole tip off, so be careful.
 
If the shed is retained on the tip of the tail, the tail will continue to retain sheds, and will die of lack of circulation. It will fall off. It will heal easily and will not affect her.
 
When we bought our Butter the tip of his tail was like that. We waited for a few sheds but it still was brown. Brought him to the vet and all they did was just cut it off. Can't even tell he's missing the tip.
 
How much did they cut off? Is there anything I can do to help? She's about to shed do you think shel get that bit caught on the tip again??
 
They just took the part that was dead. More thanblikely she won't get it caught. If the tip is brown it is already dead. Just bring her to the vet and they will take a look. I think my vet only charged me $40.
 
Hey, I did but they don't do reptiles and there aren't any close, she shed the next day though and it came off with the shed and looks normal again now:)
 
Every time she sheds look her over, the most important parts are the eye caps and the tail. I always look at the tail very carefully, if there is a little bit still on it you can usually just roll it very gently between your thumb and index finger and it will roll off. If not, soak it for a few minutes and use a washcloth and try again. Once it turns brown it won't heal, but you can prevent it from happening again by carefully examining it and taking care of it before it becomes a problem.
