premature hatchling?

*UPDATE*

He is doing great, eating small complete pinks for a while now :) Yet my scale told me a few days ago he still weighs 6 grams???? Pretty sure he almost doubled in 'volume'... have to weigh again soon!

I'm pretty sure now that he is a Mandarin from sperm from the '10 breeding his mother had. Have to ask the previous owner still, but he knew the mother is het. amel so I feel sure to assume he bred Mandarins with her in 2010.

Head is a bit blurry but the colors are true and I just wanted to take an update pic before feeding.

Thanks both of you :) I think he is gonna stay with me as long as I don't have to make room for project snakes, if he still has no problems when he is grown up, I might as well breed him after all, no inheritable problems I think, just a product of stored sperm.

So cute and turning into a great looking boy!
Pretty cool that he may be a Mandarin.
Great to see that he is doing very well.:)

Wow...I have a baby hatchling corn snake of the same color. Yours and mine look like twins. They are BEAUTIFUL!!!! <3 My daughter thought my snake was blind...but she seems to see fine when she is crawling on the floor. In fact she seems quite happy and envigorated. She got excited when she seen my daughters baby snake which was her sibling. The sibling is almost twice her size!!! I tried feeding her pinkies. I have cut up, cut in half, portioned, brained pinkies of the smallest size for feedind and...No luck. NOTHING!!! I almost got ill during the process!!!! I have tried worms. No luck. Crickets terrify her!!!! :)
She seems to be very personable, doscile, and very inquisitive. I think these particular color of snakes appear to be smaller than usual average corn snakes...way!!!! Her neck is so tiny and delicate. I am about to try something else...a grown fuzzy mouse front arm. It is the right size for her to comfortably consume and digest. I am hoping that maybe the fur will hold some special smell she might like...I do not know. Just trying and will see!!! I am worried like you are. I am wishing you and your beautiful baby snake the best of luck and will keep you both in my prayers tonight!!! +

PS: I have just read this entire thread and...WOW!!!! YOU DID A WONDDERFUL JOB AND YOUR SNAKE IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I hope my girl looks just as good!!! I hope I will do just as good as you have!!! My snake and I are a deja-vu of you and your snake. I have been so worried about my lil snake. I just love her. When I adopted her I was so happy and proud of her little adorableness!!! I followed your idea...I just fed her the about half inch of a mouse tail. She did manage to get it down. I hope she will digest it as her neck is thin and frail just like your lil snakes was until she grew. My snake is just like yours in personality too. She is like an old soul who has been around a long time. She is so loving and gentle. I hope this mousetail thig works as I have been very worried. THANK-YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR WORK, PATIENCE, AND ENDURANCE AND ESPECIALLY FOR NEVER GIVING UP ON YOUR LIL SNAKE BECAUSE ALL OF YOUR LOVE FOR YOUR SNAKE HAS HELPED US!!! THANK-YOU :)

I will make an update photo as soon as weather here allows it. He is about 80 cm now I think but stopped growing I believe. Still same character and feeding great, although sometimes he freaks out about nothing lol. I consider him to be my little retard lol.

UPDATE :)

He now measures about 70 cm but I keep forgetting to weigh him so I have no idea... he is build sturdy and his head is slightly oddly shaped. He is hardly growing anymore but eats like a champ. Behavior wise he can be a little off, like in this photo. He was in a hide, I lifted it and he kept his head tilted like that for minutes during the photo session. He also loooves to hang around on somewhat higher places in his viv, like on a piece of wood. He usually stretches out along it and stays there for hours hardly moving, so weird but cute :bird: He is not going anywhere unless someone I trust really falls in love with him. If that never happens he can spends his happy little life with me :santa:

Oh he looks great! I have quite a few that just chill out in the open like that. I figure they are old enough and comfortable enough in our house to not feel the need to hide.

Tnx! I have some others too which like to chill out in the open but somehow he does it slightly different lol :)

OMYGOSH Barbara! He's amazing, and what a story! I missed this a while back. I'm so glad you were able to keep him going - it's nice to see a success story with a baby like that grown into an adult.
