Prices vary greatly depending on the age of the snakes and any hets they might have. I've seen butters around $75. Adding motley is going to increase the price, and shipping is going to add another $40-60.

the size would be hatchling and im thinking locally so shipping wouldnt matter im just reffering to the price of the snake thanks

Hunter:)

Average prices for butters in your location ("earth") vary greatly by region. :) You may be able to find a butter if there is a breeder or a reptile expo near you, but I have no idea what you should expect to pay.

Prices

You know you can find out by checking sites of Breeders that post here. Personally I have been known to pay high prices for the snakes I want. But it is worth it to me to get the best from those that I trust. Just my $.02.

Pat

Since Hunter wants to know the local average price, what Hunter needs to do is find out who has butters nearby and what they charge, then add the prices together and divide by the number of prices added and, voila! average price!

Since Hunter isn't planning on having the snake shipped and hasn't given us a location other than "earth" in his profile, there's really not much help we can offer, even if we're willing to poll the online breeders and do the math. :)

They had butter motleys at the NARBC show a couple of weekends ago for $40. This is the cheapest I've seen them though. I'd say $60-$100 is closer to "normal".

I have a 1.1 pair of butter motleys that, if I remember correctly, I paid $130 for about a year ago. They were part of a group sale, and the seller picked up the shipping costs as a courtesy. I probably would have paid a bit more, because I really wanted them.

Not knowing where you live makes it difficult to answer your question accurately. Prices vary, but as others have mentioned, you can get a good idea by checking out breeders' websites, and e-mailing them with any questions you may have. Also, many breeders may be willing to negotiate on their prices, as long as you don't offend them by offering a ridiculously low price. Since you plan to buy locally, you'll save the shipping costs, and reduce the stress on the snakes.

Good luck!

Kathy
