As others have said, welcome to the forums and the addiction. I started out with one amel in August 04 at 45 (and for those of you prone to point out my dangling participles, that would be me, not the snake). I'm sure I'll be up to over a dozen corns by next spring.
As for photos, nothing helps more than a tripod, if the shot allows it. One trick I've read here is to put the snake in a Sterlite tub with a hidebox. Let the lil' one slither into the hide, set up your camera for the shot, and prefocus on the hide. Remove the hide just before you trip the shutter, and you should get a momentarily still snake with a "Wha' Happened?" look.
