Probably the oldest first-time snake owner in the US!

Hello! At 55 years old, I'm probably a bit old to be just getting into snakes, but it took me awhile to convince my husband to have a reptile that doesn't have shoulders. :sidestep:

Actually, it's all Rich Z's and Kathy Love's fault. :grin01: After spending hours reading all the info on the different morphs on Rich's site, and getting Kathy Love's new book, I went to the Tampa, FL, show and wanted everything.

I bought a pastel motley 03 female, a amel motley 04 male, and a little amel hatchling that looked somewhat more coral color than the others I saw (It crawled up my arm and I fell in love).

I also keep horses, and lots of lizards, including a 48 inch red tegu male that I raised from a hatchling.

Leslie..

Welcome to the forums and the hobby ! :)

I got into it at 40, so there's no age limit. ;) You'll have a lot of fun with it.

............and yes, it's VERY addicting !

Welcome!
And be warned,
Getting into corns + Living in the Daytona Area = Dangerous results. LOL
Lucky you!

You're right about living in Daytona being dangerous, although I've bought more at the Tampa shows.

I've got 22 lizards, not counting the babies. Didn't start out with the idea of breeding, but.....

And with all the morphs of corn snake and my fascination with horse color genetics....I think I'm in big trouble!

Anytime! Always happy to talk horses. I've got everything from a drafter and a warmblood to minis.

Cool! Someday I'll have more, I just have two "oldies but goodies", a Belgian X Andalusian cross and a Grulla Mustang. I am fascinated with the Dun factor, especially when it is strong enough to get those leg stripes like my old man has. ;)

And BTW, being interested in genetics is another big strike against you when it comes to the ability to resist cornsnakes. :crazy02:

Oh, we'll get along fine! My warmblood is an Arab x American White Draft cross that I bred myself. My old quarter type is a dun with all the dun factor that you could want, and I've got a "mini-mustang" silver gruilla that is just to die for. In the winter he's Bailey's Irish Creme color, and in the summer, he's almost pewter color.

And, yeah, I think I'm really in trouble with all the morphs. I'm already planning what colors to talk my husband into next. Genetics is addictive, and I'm an unrepentant addict.

Yep, mine too. ;) Do you have a website with pics of them? If so and if you don't mind, email the link to me at [email protected]. :)

Nope! No web site, but I'll try to dig up a few pictures and email them to you. Might take awhile; my picture files are all jumbled up right now.

Hi! And Welcome! I'm sure you'll love it here.

Anytime! Always happy to talk horses. I've got everything from a drafter and a warmblood to minis.
How nice to have another horsey person here! Anyone that has a draft is ok by me. I've always wanted one. :) Now you know that by mentioning these animals you must supply pictures for those of us who never get tired of looking at horses. :)

OK, here are a few to get you started.

Your second to oldest!

I am also new at this. I didn't get started until I was 57. Just turned 58. I started off with an adult male sunglow and an adult Okeetee female. I can't wait for that first clutch! The guy that got me started has several snakes. We are working on what we want to do next year as far as matching them up. Lot to learn. hey I used to have quarter horses but no more.

Later Bob

Wow, it's an honor to be in the same forum with folks who were around when corns and kings diverged from their common ancestor! Those must have been good times for herping. :sidestep:

I'm joking, of course. Welcome Leslie. Welcome Bob. This forum is great, with mature voices of all ages (someday maybe I'll be among them). :)

Dean...

Better watch out...Mike and I have our canes posed and ready to strike ! ;)
