I am having problems keeping the humidity up in my cage. What is the best thing I can do to raise the humidity. Are there many ways? What’s the most effective? :shrugs:

A little more info about your current setup will help us better. For instance, are you using an aquarium with screen lid or wooden viv with sliding glass front or some other type of enclosure? Are you using a heat lamp or UTH or some other heating element? What sort of substrate are you using? What are your current humidity levels at? Are you curious because it is an "all the time" issue, or only because of an impending shed?

Assuming you are using a glass aquarium with screen lid, as most people are, you can cover the top of the screen with a towel, leaving only a couple inches on one end open. This will help to keep humidity in there.

You can use a larger water bowl/dish on the warm side of the cage, which should help it to evaporate and create humidity.

You could use dampened sphagnum moss as part of your substrate or in a humid hide.

There are several things you can do to increase humidity in your enclosure. The ansers to some of the above questions will help narrow down the solutions you need.

One thing you should also know is corns don't require high humidity. If your humidity stays around 50%, you shouldn't need to worry. The only time you may want it a bit more humid will be during it's shed period, and just misting the cage every day, or having a humid hide will be all that is needed at that time. Hope this helps.

Definitely agree with snakemom - you shouldn't need additional ambient humidity for a Corn and a damp hide at shedding time should be enough.

Also, keep an eye on how long your snake uses the humid hide and only put it in when you know that a shed is due. I had one of mine with a "false pregnancy" sit in a damp hide for so long (presumably thinking she was going to lay eggs) that she ended up with a fungal scale condition that took months to shift and put her off feeding.
