Problems with Static and my Herpstat

So I don't know what's causing it but my room is static city right now, I mean visible blue sparks! Now every time I touch Wyatt's tank, stand or the screen lid I get a lovely shock and my Herpstat shuts off, it comes right back on but this is concerning I worry that one day it wont come back on. I was wondering if this is a common problem? Any advise how to work around this?

I would contact the manufacturer. And get a humidifier. The owner of the company is Dion, at Spyder Robotics.

I agree with Nanci, contact Dion and get that humidifier. It will benefit you as much as it does the snake.

Didn't know that would help, I've got a humidifier, haven't been running it because it's noisy. But I'll definitely switch it on and contact Dion at Spyder. Thanks everyone!

So Spyder Robotics got back to me and basically said there's no problem with the stat just to wear different footwear, run a humidifier and don't use a metal stand. The tank is setup on a wood dresser and I don't usually wear shoes in my bedroom. So here's hoping the humidifier does the trick. But if it doesn't any ideas on how I could insulate or ground the thing?

Is your room carpeted? and are you wearing socks?
