ok so to my surprise i received my provent-a-mite this morning.. read the directions and it says i could spray the substrate thats in the viv already.. would you guys recomend i clean it out first and use newpaper and spray on that.. or keep it as is ans use on old substrate?
 
How clean is the old substrate? If you just put it in, I'd keep it. If you've had it in there for months- time for a change!
 
its been there for as long as i have had my snake.. wich is going on 2 weeks on saturday.. could i take out the substrate lay it out on something else. spray it there while i clean out my tank.. then put the same substrate back in
 
I would think since it's so new you could reuse but if you do have mites I would for sure change it!! Heck I would probable just change it as it's a pain to take out so might as well change and save some time in a few weeks?
I maybe lazy but the stuffs so cheap why not just go fresh??
And yeah it is probable easier to do the mite spray on the newspaper and just through it away so as not to reinfest????

I guess they say you can keep the bedding because you aren't going to be able to remove all the mites from the empty viv, anyway- you just have to kill them...I guess it's kind of grossing me out now- I'd put in fresh.
 
newspaper for the first month.. then ill go with new aspen... just to keep it clean for awhile.. get rid of the mites
 
I would remove all substrate anyway, clean the tank, then spray the PAM OUTSIDE...that stuff is so nasty...

Then I would put in paper towels until you are sure the mites are gone. I think you said you were doing that though...

I would put in fresh as well, just because I knwo there are eggs in the substrate, and that even though the Provent will kill them, I'd rather start out with less flesh eating bugs.
