I can't decide where to put my snakes. We're going to build some type of cabinet to put 30 gallon tanks, 4 of them, and there is a spot next to the TV. Would the sound/vibration coming from the Tv bother the snakes? It also is one of the hottest rooms in the house, would that bother them also?
 
Two of my snakes are right by the TV. One of them, Choco, comes out almost immediately when we sit down to eat dinner/watch TV. He's pretty sociable- and gets to come out right away. I think it's a signal for him that we are home/ready to enjoy his company.

How hot is hot??

Next to the TV would not be my first choose. I would think it would bother the snake. Dealing with the temps.. If the temps stay mid 80's you should be fine. How old are your snake and what gender??
 
Well, if the rest of the house is 80 that room would probably be 82 degrees. We have a 42 inch tv that also puts out a lot of heat when it's on. I keep the air on 80 because I get cold easy and that's about right for me, but if we're watching tv even I start getting hot. I don't know how comfortable the snakes would be in such heat. Or if it would hurt them. Thanks
 
I have 2 juveniles and 4 babies. I haven't had them sexed yet but since I live near Kathy Love she said she would do it. I'm picking up another snake from her tomorrow and I thought about taking them to get sexed but I thought between the drive and her doing that they might get too stressed out. By the way does that hurt them?
 
TV location ..One for it , and one against it. Your call.
but to the temps, Your going to have to set it up and check the temps using a good thermometer with a probe and place the probe on the bottom of the cage to check the temp at different location. to see if it peak at 90. But you should have a cool side and a warm side so the snake can regulate themselves. And what is the info on the snakes?
 
I think I just bought a digital thermometer from reptile supply with a probe on it. I hope it's the right thing.

Sorry I'm a slow typer.
Are you going to keep all the snakes in one tank. I think you stated that you talk to Kathy in a post but can't remember.. Try not to do this as you should have more experience in snakes. I would get the snakes sexed. If you can.
And to meet Kathy in person. :)

yeah, Just the right thing . but you can use and indoor/outdoor type that you buy and where with a probe will do . I just meant not the sticky ones.
Remember you will need a cool side and a warm side .
 
Actually, I've already met her. But yeah, she told me she would sex them but like I said I don't want to stress them too much. And no I decided I wouldn't keep them together even though they seem to me like they enjoy each other's company. I know they don't have feelings. But I just can't decide what to do about tanks. I think a 20 gallon is too small but I don't have the room for a bunch of 40 gallon tanks or bigger. That was my original plan ...to get a 135 tank and keep them all in it. But I won't do that. I just need to figure out what will work and the biggest I can go is 30 even though I want bigger. Since I have to stack them and have so much room to work with I have to figure out the best way.
 
Well, If I were you I would talk to her. I would pick her brain for all the information I could get for her.
Se can tell you about tubs, plastic containers that you can use. The rack system that most breeder use. Your lucky to meet her. You could also divide your large tanks with a piece of wood or something. Other have done it.
 
Well, I decided on the 30 gallon, I just need to build shelving and be able to stack them. But would they get enough air if they were stacked and even had glass doors on them?
 
I can't give you an answer cause I don't know how your going to stack them but I think you would be fine because most breeder use a rack and their snake are fine,
 
That's what I was just thinking. I just wish I could find what I was looking for. I wanted everything already set up and ready to go but I've checked all the sites and nobody has anything.
