Question about my cali king

I got my cali about 2.5 years ago, and he was approximately 6 months (probably a little younger) at the time of adoption (rescued). Over the past few years, he has tripled in length but has barely increased in girth. About how long does it take for calis to reach full adult size? I have a corn snake that I got around the same time, who was a little younger, that is almost four feet long and about 4 times my cali's width now!

In case someone may ask, my cali eats a hopper/larger fuzzy every week or so, due to the size of his tiny lil' head.

By 3 years of age, he should be on adult mice. Sounds to me like food size didn't increase as his size did, and he has not grown normally. Weigh the snake, and we can give you an estimate of proper food size. "Leggy" snakes will usually fill right out with proper care.

There is NO WAY he could fit an adult mouse in his mouth. His head is super small.
I didn't say it could. I said by his age, he should be on adult mice. If he can't eat adult mice by now, he has been fed improperly, or has a developmental issue (not as likely). Get a weight, and we can steer you toward proper food size. Also, their mouths can open very wide and stretch an awful lot.

I was just saying the food size didn't increase as he did because he can't consume larger food. Maybe I should double the amount instead? I don't have a working scale at the moment to weigh him.

I spoke with someone at the Baltimore Repticon that was selling calis and they said that they get a lot longer before they get wider. I told them how old he was and he said it was normal, but I didn't ask how long it would be.

yeah, I agree with Chip ^^^^

and photos and a weight would definitely help!!

but from what I'm experiencing with my little milk snake (closly related) and he has what seems to me like a rediculously TINY head.. lol I was afread to even move him up to fuzzys..
but I go by weight, and he was ready, and the peach fuzzys I have are about the same width as his belly.. so I tried, and sure enough he was able to get it down!

lol you would actually be surprised at how far their little heads will stretch when foods offered! ;) lol

Can you get a photo that shows the snake's body, like from above? Maybe put a dollar bill in for scale? A weight in grams would be ideal, but we can get pretty close with a good photo.

Could you put anything of known size in for scale? Even a Coke can will do. He's definitely thin -you can see his spine, but I can't really get a great grasp on overall size by the bedding or bowl.

I'd say he looks atleast big enough for a Hopper..

but id wait and see what chip says. (he knows more than I do!)

ok. that's the best i could muster. it's a standard, regular sized prescription bottle. i don't want to mess with him too much because he literally just ate.

i think the moral of this story is that i should double up his hoppers.

i guess i had expected him to grow in conjunction with the corn, and my corn is very large and healthy, but the king is on the skinny side, and has just gotten very long... but never bulking up.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but he doesn't look healthy. I would do a fecal floatation to rule out parasites. Weird question, but have you ever fed it a live lizard? Does he drink water? Try soaking him in a couple days when the lump has gone down, see if he drinks. I wish you the best, he needs some TLC.
