Hi folks... I've only been a snake owner for a little more than one week...

I feed my corn last Fri.. and been looking around his bedding for his "goodies". well yesterday while he was slithering around my bed i noticed this spot that smelled awfully bad. Kinda resembles bird poop in a way.. did i mention it smelled bad? Yeah...

So was this it? Was this what i was looking for? And if so, i wonder why he waited till he was slithering around my blanket to do so. lol.

And i notice his scales starting to have more of a greyish tint, and becoming flaky perhaps.. no blue eyes.. But is he in the process of begining his shed?

For humidity i take a little less than a handfull of terranium moss, damp it.. and place it in a corner of the tank. Will this be enough to help him?

Thank you all :crazy02:

Okay, yes that does sounds like he pooped. It also sounds like he is going into shed, look for the cloudy eyes in a day or two. And lastly, wet moss can help but what I do which I think is easier is, I mist their cages once a day. (I just use a spary bottle.)

The reason he waited until he was "cruising" on your blanket to defecate is because excercise will oftentimes loosen the bowels. He just felt the need after moving around a bit, and they go where ever they happen to be.

Corns have a sense of humor and like to wait until they are being held to poop.
That probably was poop in the cage/tank. And yes it can smell awful.

What kind of corn do you have? I have an amel and her eyes do not go to blue. She just sort of loses all her color.

I agree with Dave. Try misting the cage everyday. Also you may want to get a gauge to measure the humidity.

Hi guys, little update.

Today as i was handling Dexter this morning i noticed his eyes are very cloudy. Not blue yet, just very cloudy. Hard to tell the difference where the black and brown meet in his eyes. :crazy02: Im excited.

:-offtopic He is in my hoody right now, seems to always make his way down into the pocket on the bottom (not two seperate, one large pocket). So he just loves to go back and forth but he seemed to have coiled himself up and has his head resting outside the edge of my pocket, to see what's going on. I never knew how fun a snake would be i love this guy.

Anyways, sorry..

Today he is due for a feed. Should i just try to feed him to see if he will take or not? I'm sure it won't hurt to try. I have a clump of wet terranium moss in two corners for him. One on warm and one on cold. He seems to be relaxing under there past two days, is this because it'll help his shed?

thank you all :wavey:
