Question that is kind of off topic, but not.

So my husband just got a milk snake. I was wondering if anyone knows if raising a milksnake is a similar process to raising a corn snake? As I don't have a snake, but I have a corn snake book, I have been trying to help him out, but I just don't know if the same rules apply so to speak. Any input would be helpful.

I'd say they are 99% the same. Milksnakes and kingsnakes, to me, don't seem to be able to take quite as big a prey item as a corn- they don't seem to have quite as flexible jaws. How this affects my snakes is that they stay on a double pink or fuzzy or hopper longer before moving up. So instead of going right from fuzzy to hopper, they spend time eating double fuzzies.

I'd agree with Nanci. I had a pair of Sinaloan Milksnakes who took small or medium mice as adults, never large.

They liked burrowing more than my Corns, so I made sure they had an extra couple of inches of substrate to dig about it.

Apart from that, pretty much the same kind of setup and care regime as my Corns.

I guess I haven't had enough coffee, I thought you said milk shake:laugh01:

Welll I'm the one with the corns and my husband wanted a pair of Alb. Nelson Milks...I have them in the same containers, same substrate....everything. They are just S L O W
The corns I got at the same time are eating Lg. Fuzzies and the milks are either eating double pinks or a very small fuzzy. I thought I was doing something wrong with them, but I believe it's normal?? They eat every 5 days like the rest of the crew, but they don't grow the same. Good luck with your new guy/girl.

My female Nelson's just turned two. She weighs about 315g, but is relatively short. She eats big hoppers or small adults, one once a week.
