Questions about Pied Corns

dave partington

Crazy Dave
I've seen Pied corns, they are quite wonderful.
I am curious to know,
What are the breeding results of High Expression X High Expression?
Does this result in 100% high expression offspring?
Is Pied a gene, or is it a trait, or something else? Through breeding trials, does Pied exhibit any peculiarities?
Thanks,
dave

Ill know more after this breeding season I have 5 pied breeding's planed. Cant wait till I see the results. I bred a very low expression male (just a few specks of white) to a medium to high female and got 100% pied to some degree and got my avatar Zorro which people have said is the craziest pied they have seen out there. So there is no telling. I think its more line breeding potentially. I will know more after this year. I have an F1 male that is medium to high and we will see what potential he will throw. The suspense is killing me.

I can't wait to see those results either. I'm honestly very surprised this hasn't been studied to a further extent already. They are such cool looking animals.

I have a pair from Walter Smith, a high expression female and a low expression male, that won't be ready to breed for awhile, but I can't wait to see what they can produce. I am super excited everytime I see exar15xe's results, he produced some awesome animals and I hope something similar can come from this pair and one day will have true pied corns and not just pied-sided

From what I remember this has been done years ago, while i am not positive I believe the results that higher expression parents resulted in more offspring with a high expression but also produced an array of med to low expression ones as well. If it was fully controllable we would have some insane looking pidesided snakes by now.

I hate to say it, but I think we might sooner have a new pied mutation pop up on it's own before we ever line breed high expression pieds into what we're imagining. I have NO experience with the mutation to speak of. Just saying this based on where the mutation seems to be.
