Questions about racks

I'm thinking about investing in 2 racks from RBI when I get my tax return. I understand they are heated with flexwatt, but I have no experience with that.

For those that have the 4 bin racks from RBI, how many plugs will there be? I'm trying to figure out how many thermostats I'll need (hoping just one). I'm probably going to get the Ranco ETC 111000 pre-wired with the 6 plug power strip.

Also, what size water bowls fit nicely in a 32 qt tub for an adult corn?

Has anyone ever had a corn push the tub out just enough to escape? I don't see anything on the racks that would prevent this from happening.

I have 2 Animal Plastics racks, so my answers are based on my experience with them...

1 long piece of FlexWatt is snaked through the rack, so there is only 1 plug. If the racks are the same, you could possibly use one thermostat for both racks (as long as you don't exceed the max watts). I have an 8 inch plastic bowl in each of my 32 qt tubs and haven't had any complaints, yet. My tubs are a little loose, so I slide a small (2"x3") piece of cardboard under the front of each tub to snug it up a little. No escapes as of now.

I'm not familiar with the rack you're asking about, but my hubby and I just finished a DIY rack. To answer your "escape" question, yes, I had an adult female last year who pushed up the lid of her tub enough to get out. Fortunately Dan spotted her as she headed down the hallway, so no harm was done.

There is some clearance between the lids of the tubs and the shelf above in the rack. We cut pieces of foamboard to slide beneath the tubs and push them snugly and evenly against the upper shelf. The foam board is easy to slide out before removing the bings. Snakes are amazingly strong and amazingly determined to escape. If there's a way, they'll find it.

I didn't purchase my racks from RBI but I did purchase flexwatt for one of my racks. My racks are 12 shelves tall and I wanted this rack to have three thermostat controls. (three sets of flexwatt, each set to control four shelves) I will tell you that I worked with Rich for this and he was one of the best people I have worked with even though it was a low value order. There were quite a few emails back and forth getting this all together. I also have ordered quite a few of the hides that they sell. Anyway, I experienced such great value, super great service and fast shipping. Thumbs up in my book for sure
