A friend out west told me tonight that he can't seem to find ammunition like usual. We haven't looked here in Florida for a while. I am hearing rumors about scarcity with the new administration. Anybody else notice any unusual scarcity?

Anything and everything is hard to find these days, including ammunition. Everybody is terrified Obama is going to take their guns. As if he doesn't have more important things on his agenda.

There is also a rumor that congress will try and pass a 500% tax on ammunition. Even if this doesn't happen, ammunition prices have continued to rise rapidly over the last several years. So many people are taking the opportunity to "stock up" -- It will never be cheaper and it doesn't go bad.

I haven't noticed, but then I haven't had the need to buy ammunition since the Fall hunting season. Maybe I should get out and check!

A relative of ours, who has a dealer license for firearms, has notice a sharp increase in the sales of both, firearms and ammunition. Some of the hunting and firearm message boards I occasionally visit, the patrons are concerned about possible changes to their way of life and so am I. There is a broad belief that the "Obama" administration has plans on restricting access to both firearms and ammunition, through new laws and regulations. It's a shame that we, the law abiding firearm owners, are punished because of the few unscrupulous idiots of the world.

As stated in a previous post, I think that the current administration has far more important things to deal with! I am sure, this will a priority of his, though.

I happen to enjoy hunting and shooting and I'm afraid of what the future holds for me and my children.

Here is a link that might help: http://ammunitionaccountability.org/Legislation.htm

Even if no new ammo/gun laws are passed, the price of lead and other metals is going up. That correlates to one thing: increase in ammo prices. Like someone else said, it basically never goes bad. The possibility of very restrictive laws has driven demand through the roof. I know I am buying what I can when I can.

I'm having problems here in TX of all places, the great 2nd amendment state. From what my dealer and the local shops are telling me, ammo is selling out quickly while it's in, and then it's getting hard to replace their stock.. everyone fears new legislation and increased taxes and is getting all they can, while they can. I know I pick up a few boxes of 9mm whenever it's in and I'm having a hard time stocking up on 7.62x39.. no one seems to have it around here right now.

Sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy, to me...People fear shortage, so they stockpile...which in turn creates a shortage.

The price of everything is going up. Food, clothes, rent...everything. Theres also a big fear that money will be short... so people are stockpiling... creating a shortage...

It's what happens when an administration leaves office without cleaning up their mess. It's what happens when you put CEO's in charge of regulating their own industry. It's what happens when you privatize profits, but communize debt. It's what happens when your primary concerns are personally financial, rather than the good of the country you're hired to run.

Yea...I think the Obama administration has WAY more things to be worried about. They have to clean up 8 years of frat-boy party mess...

[edit]...I deleted a LOT of stuff. It was off-topic more than necessary, and a bit of a rant...[/edit]

I'm not sure Obama sees ANYTHING as more important than giving away my money and taking away my guns. :(

ANYWAY (lol), the scarcity is currently due to demand exceeding supply. people are stocking up in case the worst does happen under this administration, and they just can't make it and get it into stores fast enough. That's all.

Ammunition in Canada is starting to become scarce in certain calibres in Canada as well, particularly the NATO rounds (7.62 and 5.something or other - a .223 round, I believe). Since most of the ammunition up here is brought over from the States, a theory flying around is that the wars going on in Afghanistan and Iraq are putting pressure on the rounds used in military weapons.

Anyway, changing gun laws in the US as significantly as people are claiming Obama wants would be an uphill battle. Canada has a way stronger anti-gun lobby and I still have my four rifles. Went through about 2000 rounds last summer, even. A little common sense goes a long way.

I seriously doubt that.

FWIW...Bush is the one that decided the general public was now required to pay off the financial debts of major corporations. Bush is the one that decided the top 4% of the country only needed to pay 10% of the taxes, and that the people who make the most money should be required to pay no more taxes than the person making half as much. Bush is the one that decided we needed to fight a war on foreign soil over lies and deciet, in an effort to...what? I don't think we ever really got a straight answer...we've never caught Bin Laden(our original target), and G dub'ya has already succeeded in honoring his father by killing Huessein. So what was this war about, again?

Bush is also the one that lied under oath, forced his cabinet to lie under oath, violated civil rights by monitoring, bugging, and tracking personal information without a warrant, violated civil rights by holding "criminals" in jail, without ever filing formal charges, or even showing a boidy of evidence worthy of a petty crime, let alone a major breech of national security.

He's also the one that used the war he started based on lies as an excuse to pump up fear and loathing so high in this country that half the population was willing to give up all of their freedoms just so Bush could "protect them".

And now...Obama and his crew are forced to clean up the mess. And what does the media do? They focus on a couple democrats that failed to pay taxes, and get half the population convinced, unreasonably and unrealistically so, that Obama is going to do everything he can to take away your right to bear arms. Nice spin, Media!!

So...Bush can violate any civil and human rights he wants...as long as he doesn't take away your right to own and shoot any weapon your heart desires?

And people wonder what's wrong with this country...:poke::headbang::sobstory::nope:

I got a question....

What makes everyone think Obama will do what Clinton couldn't do?

It's the double team now! He has a Clinton on his staff! LOL!!

Obama's party holds the majority in the house and senate. You just never know what could happen when it comes to this topic. Sitting idly on the sideline and hoping that it won't, is what is dangerous.

Cool. An Obama fan. Maybe you can explain to me all this CHANGE and NEW FACES Obama is implementing when all his picks are the same ones that were working with the OLD administration (i.e., Clinton)? Even if you love Obama, aren't you offended that his platform was "the worst we can do is continue with the same old faces" only to appoint the same old faces? Of course, this question is only meant to allow each of us to step back and laugh at ourselves if we really DID expect anything to be different. It's just plain funny!

As far as the economy goes, Bush isn't the one that gave loans to people too stupid to understand a variable interest rate loan. Obama didn't do that, either. Neither Bush nor Obama made people so short sighted that they took put loans with payments greater than they could afford. Stupid people did that, banks allowed them, and THAT is the cause of this mess. Americans need to blame themselves - it is not someone else's fault that a person who can't even balance a checkbook properly takes out a loan they can't afford! The economy was screwed by Americans - not AN American.

Obama's party holds the majority in the house and senate.

Clinton's party had a majority in Congress, too.....right up until the AWB.....and so many democrats lost seats in later elections that it was handed over to the Republicans. That's OK, though. Bush Sr. onl;y lost the election due to what he did along similar lines only a few years before. Fair play, eh?

He's also the one that used the war he started based on lies as an excuse to pump up fear and loathing so high in this country that half the population was willing to give up all of their freedoms just so Bush could "protect them".

So, when is Obama and his party gonna repeal the bad parts of the Patriot Act. I'll hold my breathe now and start patiently counting. Face it - NO popular party ever releases power voluntarily. They just take more and keep what the others have already taken as long as they can.

Jeez, not all of them. Hillary never worked for Bill. HELLO!!!
