Does anyone have any and recommend them? I'm looking into the Brazilians or Peruvians. Peruvians are hard to find though! Good pets? How big are your adults, and are they nippy? I saw they can get 6-7 ft at most, just wondering how long yours are, and I heard they are nippy as babies. Any comments on them? Thanks!!

I had done a bit of research myself, I know there a bit nippy when there little but then tame down as they get older and with handling.

i've only dealt with a columbian, but it is one of the tamest snakes i've come across. i hope to own one someday.

I don't know anything about them, but I do have a friend who is selling some of hers. I think some of them are possibly het for Hypo.
Here's her iHerp page
She's been a friend of mine for a while, & I've also purchased snakes from her. They are well cared for, good bloodlines. I highly recommend her. (She's also really good about answering questions.) Tell her Heather sent you. :)

My brazilian died just recently but he was a calm, very sweet guy and absolutely beautiful. The Brazilians' tend to be brighter in color. Mine was from hypo parents that were quite orange. I really miss my boy......not only was he beautiful, he was really sweet. I don't think Bob has any babies right now though.

Thanks nwheather, I will look into hers :)

And I'm sorry about yours Meg. I think I will get one soon, you should too!

No problem.
She currently has three babies available, from two different clutches, & one adult female available.

I might get another from Bob at some point Nick. It was rough losing him and I'm just not sure I'm ready to replace him. I had a necropsy and pathology done at time of death because I had no idea why a perfectly healthy animal should suddenly die. Pathology revealed bacterial enteritis. Everything else looked normal on him and no sign of IBD or crypto, though since they found the lesions upon microscopic exam in the intestines they did additional tests. Nothing I could prevent but still, it makes me worried about getting another.....these sorts of things can make you question why you keep these beautiful critters. Maybe by the time Bob is ready with new babies, I'll be ready to try again.

They can be nippy as youngsters... but mostly calm down.
They are really manageable size-wise... but one needs to take into account that they are more sensitive, and need a more strict humidity maintenance than other snakes- they will quickly perish if not in the right conditions as they are susceptible to dehydration.

Mine was a little nippy as a baby boa, but I made sure I took him out everyday for 10 minutes so he got used to handling. He's a 2006, 6ft and over 3400 grams. They make great pet boas because they don't get fat like some BCI's or BCC and have mild temperments.

I have a young Barzilian and she handles lovely, but that's enough about the girlfriend. Seriously though they are lovely snakes and their husbandry requirements are simple to provide. They are not nippy at all really as youngsters and I think this aspect of their behaviour gets overstated. With regular handling they turn into cracking snakes to own and they are so beautiful.

Kindest regards
