It's been awhile since I've been on the forum but I saw something tonight that I never seen before and wonder if anyone else has witnessed it. I came home from work, looked in the cage of my Amel Motley and noticed she was in the process of shedding (or so I thought.) On further inspection, I noticed that the entire shed was already off (in one piece) but that she was tunneling back into it. I went to remove the shed but she poked her head out of the side of the shed and gave me the snake equivalent of a dirty look. I left her alone for a little bit and just checked her cage. She is now wearing the shed skin and is looking very content. Has anyone else ever seen this? Any advice or comments are welcome. Thank you.
 
Ah she probably just saw it as a nice little tunnel to squeeze into and feel secure! But it sounds pretty funny :) You don't need to worry about anything I'm sure, she'll eventually crawl back out of it. That's not a typical behavior of any snake species that I know of, so it was probably just a weird one-time occurrence. Definitely a photo worthy moment though!
 
Ha thats so funny! Maybe she was like "no I dont want it to come off! " lol :rofl:
 
I had one do that a few weeks ago lol.
He didn't like the new skin so he put the old one back on!
 
I had to post these pics in this post because I was so amazed when I heard what your corn had done and amazingly, Onyx has done something very similar! Hope you don't mind! :)
His shed was in a perfect circle when I found it this morning:

He had to make a hole in the side of his shed to come out again ? I don't know but it sure is funny :

My DQ has done this twice! It's so bizarre. I told all my friends that he was a pack rat, couldn't stand to throw his old shed away.
 
Maybe they think it's a hide? Since it smells so much like themselves (which the hides probably do because they are in them so much) They want to be in it because it reminds them of security?
 
That was kinda my guess. They just think "Wow! A little hole that smells good and fits me perfectly! What a lucky day!"
