really weird looking white eye snow

this little critter hatched last year but died within 2 weeks..
she was in a clutch with amels, amel motleys, snows and snow motleys, they were all normal looking and this one was the only one that had some flaws.
not only the skin was abnormal but also check the eyes.
the eye scales are white instead of transparant! so the snake is almost completely blind.
does anyone know how this could happen? there were no abnormalities with the incubation, no fungus nothing.
is it just a cruel joke of mother nature or are there other explanations?

Random genetic defect is probably the best guess. If both parents are carrying a recessive, defective gene, it's possible the genes were paired up in this offspring. Alternatively, there could've been a mutation.

I'm not aware of incubation conditions leading to white eye scales. Mis-incubated eggs usually result in a poor hatch rate and/or kinks.

Is that pic before or after the post hatching shed?

I was wondering the same thing, many of my females look like that after laying their eggs because they've been digging through vermiculite for a week or more.

Did you get any other pictures if this one? It would be nice to be able to see the eyes, etc.

I think this was be for the shed, I see some vermiculite on her body...
she only shed once be for she died an after the shed she still had the white scales on her eyes.
I will search my computer for more pictures but I don't know if I will find them because they were from last year and I had a computercrash meanwhile.
this picture i found on my ftp server and while I still had no answer I'd though I'd post it here...
I have a clutch in the incubator from the same parents so maybe there will be another one this year (if it had something to do with the parents and not with the incubation...)
