I'm really hoping this ends up to be nothing, but today my little brother fed his baby sand boa and while getting her out of her feeding dish to go back into her viv (after she was done eating) we noticed a weird red blotch on her belly and on the bottom of her jaw. i instantly thought maybe internal bleeding or something from the pinky going down, but i really hope it isnt.

Anyone know what this might be?

no she's in aspen shavings. you can tell that the color is from underneath her skin. it was a brighter shade of red when we first saw it.

I think you may be seeing what happened to me when I first got my hypo lav corn. I fed him then I picked him up to put him away and saw a long red blocth going down his side. I started freaking out thinking it was internal bleeding or something but the next day it was gone. I noticed it happens everytime he eats so I think it's just from streching out to eat the mouse, because after a day it's gone.

Keep an eye on it if it doesn't go away after a day or two and it spreads or the snake starts acting different then I suggest going to see a vet. Hope it turns out to be okay.

i hope thats the case. i'll take a look at her after lunch and see if the red has gone away.

Tom Thompson has a bunch of KSBs, as does KJUN- I think. You could ask either of them if they've ever seen anything like it.
