regurge after 4 days

gelshark

I got this snake on the first of this month (she's a yr old already)
fed her on the 6th (sat) as i was told she was being fed on saturdays.
waited 72 hrs to hold her again (and even then did not hold her very much)
then i go check on her a few mins ago and there is a regurge
the mouse looked very flat and i didnt see tail - almost looks just like the skin and maybe fur of the mouse - makes me think all the internals were gone
has anyone seen something like this before?

most likely cause??? temps??? she had spent more time on the cool side compared to my other snake after eating

she had been eating pinkies still - although she is big enuff to eat bigger (which i did giver her a small fuzzy)
guess she wont get fed this saturday tho

Hope this helps...
Although healthy corn snakes with proper feeding and temperature environment should not regurgitate, it sometimes happens. It is important to observe conditions in the snake’s enclosure to be aware if the snake regurgitates. Once a snake regurgitates, it is likely that it will regurgitate again at the next feeding if special precautions are not taken. Regurgitation rids the snake of the natural gastric fluids, and it takes nearly 2 weeks for the fluids to return to normal. A hatchling that regurgitates three consecutive meals may die. Regurgitation can be caused by too low temperatures, feeding during shedding, or bacterial infection. Snakes that frequently regurgitate can often be cured by giving one time dose of GSE (grapefruit seed extract) in the drinking water at a dose of 3 drops per cup of water. GSE can also be used routinely in the drinking water at a dose of 5 drops per gallon. If the snake regurgitates, it should not be fed again for at least 7 days, and then the meal should be much smaller than normal. If the problem persists, it may be necessary to consult a veterinarian.

yah, i knew that stuff - my question is has anyone else seen a regurge four days after feeding - normal digestion is what 48 hrs?

1. Due to feeding while shedding
2. Feeding oversized mice
3. Eating spoiled mice
4. Due to low temperatures in the cage (less than 70 degrees F)
5. Due to illness

Spoiled Mice can also do this.

Or Pepto! ;)

This was her first regurg? Were you able to snap a shot of it? Just curious, but are you sure it came from her mouth? It sounds like it was at least partially digested. I've never experienced a regurg, but I've seen photos of waste that look like there is still fur on it. Either way I think I'd still wait for the full ten days before trying again with a smaller prey item.

Let us know how that Tylenol works out.

i dont know if pepto would do the trick - i didnt see any diarrhea, but you did jog my memory she did do a poop two days after eating (my other did a [BIG] poop 3 days after)

Yes, I have seen a regurge that many days after a meal. Are you positive it was a regurge? Did it smell like a dead body, not like musky snake poo? My older snakes sometimes poop out stuff with LOTS of hair.

I've seen a regurge like that after 4 days, but it was a big meal and too much handling in the between time.

What's the temp of her warm side? I guess with an older snake, and no obvious cause, I'd probably, in addition to the regurge protocol, take it to the vet and get a fecal done to look for parasites. Every snake I have checked has had worms.

How does her stomach area feel? Normal, or can you feel swelling? Swelling would be a sign of crypto.
