To make a long story short, we used Terminix for years (about 7), roaches kept getting worse and worse. Finally Children & Youth & the Health dept threw us out of here for 5 days. Terminix came back in to 'bomb really good'. Didn't do much. We took over at that point. Within a month we had things under control. The neighbors, who are attached to our house (row home) are infested with them. My husband sees them on the sidewalk in the mornings before he delivers the newspapers. The whole neighborhood is infested. We see one here, one there, but that is a FAR cry from what we were seeing when we did have a company in here. According to Children and Youth & the Health Dept, as long as we keep receipts for what we are personally doing and they are under control we are not required to have a company. While we were with Terminix I wasn't allowed to do any treatment of my own or my contract would be void. Also, Terminix came into our home after this fiasco and told me that as long as I had one place where roaches could hide (they can hide in any book, video tape, panaling, ect.) that they couldn't help us. So, unless I tear my house down (they can hide in craacks in the walls behind the panaling, in floor boards under carpet, ect.) they can't help me. We are doing a far better job ourselves with getting things under control. I'm sorry for the rant, I've just been through heck this last year.
