These are my own personal observations into two different rodent feeder supply companies. I'm sure there are people out there who will disagree with my views, but I'm sure everyone has different quality experiences with either of these companies.
RodentPro:
I have been an exclusive customer of RodentPro for a year or so now. And I've noticed in that time a decline in customer service and the quality of rodents I end up getting. You would figure living 25 miles from their business, I would tend to get a little bit better service.
Customer service: I understand they are a busy business, catering to people all over the country but some things just really get under my skin. They are terribly slow to respond to e-mails, sometimes 2 days before I get a reply. Generally they don't seem to like being asked to ship using another shipping company other than Airborne Express. I can understand they probably have a contract, but in the same right, Airborne cannot seem to find my house. Out of 7 orders, I think 3 have found their way without the driver having to call me at work and get directions. I've even had the driver disregard the simple directions, and simply drop it off at the post office, of which the postal employees don't like them doing, because they have to sign for the package. That and they ship using Airborne's 2nd Day shipping, I always seem to need my rodents yesterday, so having to wait an extra day is inconvenient. That and they send this huge, hard to open box for even the smallest of orders.
Quality: Before I thought RodentPro's feeders were top notch, compared to the frozen feeders I can buy at a pet shop. But just this afternoon (feeding day) as I was opening a new bag of weaned rats I was appalled at the quality of the rodents. As I picked through the bag, they were all urine soaked, had feces clung to them, many of them appeared to have been squished, as they had brain matter and blood leaking out their nose and mouth. And they looked as though I got last year's stock that they scraped up from the bottom of the freezer. A few of the 20 actually looked like they had been put through a meat tenderizer, flattened with indentations all over, broken legs and tails, etc. It takes that much longer to bend the rodents back to a shape that the snakes can swallow easily, I feel like I have to play with a Barbie doll bending legs this way and that.
Big Cheese Rodent Factory:
Today I got my first order through BCRF before noon, and can I say...wow.
Customer Service: I e-mailed for a price quote, and within an hour I got a courteous reply. They even asked which shipping company I prefer for "over-night" delivery. Go figure. =)
Quality: The box and packaging was the first tip of a much better quality product within. The box was a more reasonable size to handle, not 24x24x12 like RodentPro's. The insulation was also a better quality, as it was thicker and didn't leave me with an itchy feeling after digging through trying to find the rodents. The amount of dry ice enclosed was remarkable. I got this huge chunk of ice that I think will last about a week or so.
And best of all, the rodents are great. They're clean, not a piece of litter anywhere, no urine or feces that I can see. And best of all, they're already vacuum-packed for me. So I don't have to go through the hassle to do it when I receive the order.
I would like to hear some feedback as to what others think on the matter. =)
