Rosalia - my new red tail boa! <3

Oh my gosh that first picture made me wince! Definitely dehydrated. D: Not anymore, obviously, which is amazing. She's beautiful, I really mean that. I'm so glad she's in good hands.

Thanks, Betsy! :D I'm glad I could help her - and it's crazy to me that the previous owners could have had her in this same, great condition if they would have just changed a FEW things around.. Seems so lazy of them.

I agree, Vicky! I was scared for her health when I first brought her home. It didn't take much to get her into better shape. I'm glad she finally has a home. =]

Hah.. I used to love Pokemon. Wait, I'm not gonna lie.. I still play it on my DS.

But no, that's not where her name came from. I was going to just name her Rosie and I decided to make it more feminine.. I decided upon Rosalia. Sounded feminine to me. :D

Jeni, Rosie looks 100 times better now. Congrats on finding such a beautiful boa. :)

But... I need to see her in person in order to give you her proper seal of approval of course.

Btw, how much does she weigh now? What food is she eating?

I weighed her yesterday - 430.0g. She's still on mice hoppers. I'm hoping to finish her bag of hoppers before I bump her up. I also want to put her on rats instead of mice.

Also! She still hasn't pooped since I brought her home on Feb 10th.

Any advice?

Are you sure that weight is right, Jeni? My 80g Caulker Cay is eating weanling mice...by 430g I think I'm feeding the boas small rats (I know my 800-ish gram girls are eating medium rats). Save those hoppers for your corns!

Yeah, I double checked her weight. I'm thinking she weighs that much because of all the backed up poop from not going since I got her.. That's why I haven't bumped her up yet. I read that you don't really want to see a "bump" in a boas belly after feeding - is this true?

Has she been producing any waste? I'd be really worried about her being so constipated. I always feed my boas prey items that leave a bump...maybe not when they are full grown (as that would take quite a large meal to do), but as growing youngsters, yes.

(And I didn't see the updated pictures, she looks about 400g...I wouldn't have even asked if I had looked.)

Yeah - no waste yet and I am definitely worried. Trent mentioned letting her go for a swim in the tub. Any other ideas?

I'm gonna put her in the tub for a swim tomorrow. I'm off work for once! Woo!
