Round Two of the Flood

Mrs InsaneOne

I See Snakes...
Now that the last three clutches have finished hatching out, we start the next round... and what a clutch to kick off the round with!

We paired up our Female Blood het Anery possible het amel, Alexandrite, with Hematite, the male het anery and amel. And he didn't complain in the least about courting two females.

First three pips this morning were two red on gray heads with skulls and one dark brown on dark gray. My diagnosis? Two bloods and one granite! At least I'm hoping that's what it means! Tonight, we had another of the dark heads come poking out, so we've a pair of each pipping now.

I'd taken pictures, but they all came out horrible because of lighting issues and blurriness, so I'll take more first thing in the morning when I check on them again. Maybe by then we'll have more noses sticking out. =)

Personally, I'm rooting for a red on red nose with some white or a completely white nose. *weg*

Alright, I took pics this morning, and again about an hour ago of the hatchling that came out to greet the world. =) I would have posted them sooner, but Tim had his PC hooked up cause he was installing a sound card and playing. Than it took me a half hour with the help of my daughter to get the connections back in order because Tim had a 'blonde' moment. lol... (She got to be the one to crawl under the table to reach the back of the PC while I played technician with the modem) lol...

Anyway... here's the pics:

If I make enough bubbles, you won't see me!

And here's the little (well, not really quite so little) blood:

Are you looking at me???

Not a bad bit of diffusion going on here by the tail:

And finally, the all important belly shot:

I tried to get a head shot, because this little one has a wicked skull on it, but he/she (shlem?) didn't want to cooperate, was all full of attitude. =)

Will post more pictures when some of the others come out and when the last 5 eggs pip. Right now we're at 3 bloods and 2 granites. =)

:D Thanks! It came out looking better than I had hoped, considering it looked fairly normalish through the opening in the egg (it's pipping picture is the first one I posted - and no, I didn't cut the egg open like that, it did.) And, while Alexandrite, the mother, doesn't have the greatest diffusion, she is a pretty snake with some nice reds. Hematite, the male, more than makes up for her lack of stunning-ness though. =)

I'm hoping the one granite that was pipping yesterday will be out sometime today, it's been watching me each time I walk by and only ducks back in the egg when it sees the camera. lol...

I was surprised that shot actually came out as clear as it did - the hatchling was practically flying right towards me as I took it! lol...

And I managed to get a picture of half it's head pattern about 20 minutes ago...

It's was shy though, so I still couldn't get a clear picture of it.

And here's the first granite out... Oh boy do I love his pattern! (And yes, it is a he - I checked right after I snapped some belly shots)

A touch of diffusion:

And the belly:

So exciting, he is so much more than I expected him to be. But, the best thing isn't even out of it's egg yet... Oh yes, there is something better than a granite... *weg*

Ooooohhhh....Give me a second to wipe the drool off my keyboard. LOL That is a superb granite..

You know, there is nothing... and I mean nothing, better than a happy surprise. It's even better when it's a surprise you were hoping to find, but weren't really expecting to come your way.

This little beauty made my day, it's the best thing I've seen pop up in this clutch so far. Do you want to see pictures? Are you getting as curious as I am happy?

Well, I will spare you the suspense and just post the pictures:

Isn't that the most gorgeous little nose and eyes you've ever seen? All that red beauty... all from a possible het... I really love playing the possibilities. I know someone else said that in another thread, and I quite agree with him. Possibilities make clutches like this one more than worth it.

Now... there are 4 eggs left to pip and I have a 1 in 16 chance of getting the white nose I was hoping for to go along with this gorgeous little red one... Can you see why I'm over the moon right now???

Isn't he though? I wish I could find room for him, cause if there was any way to fit him into one of our projects, I'd keep him in a heat beat. As it is, he'll be a hard one to sell, if only cause I won't want to let him go! I can't wait to see how the other granite(s) look!

If I didn't have a male and 2 males that are het granite I would buy him. But I can't imagine what I'd do with 4. LOL :)

I know that feeling! Pretty much the same reason why I won't be keeping him either! lol

Those look nice!
Wheres you wife been lately ?:grin01:
Thanks Stephen, the boy we picked up from you seems to have a knack for passing on his good looks!

And the hubby has been working and running around.

Wow Jenn, Congrats!!! Awesome with the p. hets eh??? That Granite is gorgeous and so is that cute lil Fire baby. I didn't catch it, was the sire homo or het Blood?
Anyway I'm back in town and will be in touch soon...

good luck with the white nose!

Thanks kyle, and I'm stoked with the results of just working with possible hets. =D

Both parents were homo blood... here's their pictures:

Hematite:

Both those pictures were taken last year, but they are still pretty accurate - except for the fact that both snakes are much bigger now. =)

Congrats on the beautiful babies :)

Thanks! =) Two more bloods have pipped, that leaves only 3 more eggs left to go... Total count so far is 2 granites, 1 fire, 4 bloods, and 1 that is either a granite or blood - hard to tell because of where that particular egg is sitting.
