Okay, well in the name forum, some of you mentioned that you played various pen and paper or live action RPGs. And since it managed to get the entire thread off topic, it might be nice to move it all here... So what do you play and how often?

I play Dungeons and Dragons and Vampire: The Masquerade ( pen and paper version) and am trying to get d20 up or something. I play D&D weekly and Masquerade once a month or so.

He He! :D

The first thing I thought of when I saw the subject line was 'Rocket Propelled Grenade'

Do you notice how it is either one extreme or another..its Never or all the time and there are hardly any in-between votes. :p

unfortunately, i can't find the time to play. but a few years back, I played almost every other day. We were extreme fanatics, me and my groupies. But now, i have been bearing down on studying, lacrosse, and the snakes; so i never play anymore. although i would like to....

i actually started to design my own RPG, very similar to D&D, but the magics, stats and fight sequencing are very different. I am also creating an entirely new beastiary for my world and attempting to draw each creature.

hopefully, i can round up all my papers and finish it soon. I have an essential rough draft finished, but the microeconomics and history stuff needs to be fine tuned. Wish me luck!

used to play

You left out a catagory..
Used to play
We played AD&D ( Forgoten Realms) We even encountered Wolgar, Breunor, Drizzt, Regis and Catabrie. A few of you will know who they are. right drizzt80?
We had a campaign that lasted for five years.
We played on the first Saturday of every month, usually from about 2:00 in the afternoon until 2:00 or 3:00 the following
morning.
Everyone's work schedules and personal lives made it too dificult to continue the game.
Maybe someday we will start again.
I play RPG's on the computer every once in a while now.
Baulders Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights and a few others. Not really enough time to do much of that either.

Right on Jimmy, I do know them quite well! I used to play DnD years ago, but just isn't the time to play anymore. Used to spend time on a MUD as well. Life seems to have gotten in the way! My spare time in the fantasy world is spent reading when I have the chance.

lol, that's awesome! I've yet to incorperate famous NPCs into a campaign, this being the first long campaign in Faerun I've done. I hope our party never encounters them though, two of our party members are Red Wizards. lol About the extremes, I noticed that too. Weird....

I agree with Jimmy, I am definitely in the "used to play" category. No time now.

I've also spent hours and hours on Baulders Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights and a few others.

Recently we got an X-box to try out the Dark Alliance, but it just wasn't the same.

Used to play all the time and any game we could get our hands on before and during university, including good old AD+D and Cyberpunk.

Had a bunch of years off, mostly cos I couldn't find a group of fellow maniacs, but I've now got a couple of friends I rpg Whitewolf:Twilight stuff with online, although we've gotten to the point where its more like joint storytelling than RPG, fun all the same :)

I used to play D&D at least once a week. Now I've moved someplace where there is nobody to play with. I'm not one of those nuts who can't get out of character once they've stopped playing, but it is hard to forget about a character you've played for years. I have a backup plan though. They recently released a D&D collectable minis game. It is all the fun D&D monsters, in a toned-down skirmish-only game that I can force my boyfriend to play with me (you only need 2 players). I can at least partially get my D&D fix without having to drive for hours to find players!

My hubby wanted to teach me how to play a role playing game after he learned how to play while he was in Iraq. It didn't go very well. Here is why, First He was using his character that he had been playing for 7 mo. and he was far more advanced then my little character I had to make.(I didn't like that at all) Second, I had no idea of the rules, and i just Knew he had the be cheating somehow! Third, He was the story teller and it seemed as though he would make it too hard for me. My character would always for get her sword in the car, get lost or something like that. The last thing is I would try and rationalize everything. I guess not such a good thing to try and do in a role playing game.

Anyways Then we tried playing with other people and it went much better! PLus he was playing warewolfs and vampires <-- something like that can't really remember which one. Now we play D&D. that one is alot better for me.

I play D&D/WitchCraft weekly (the group alternates between the two). I've also started an informal online D&D scenario with some of my online friends in the wee hours of Sat night/Sun morning.

I've been playing text-based online RPGs for years, and have recently gotten into a MMORPG called City of Heroes, although there's more of a focus on defeating enemies than actual role-playing in that game.

Wow- major thread digging, nitelion!! I was thinking- who are all these new people??? And some REALLY old timers got woke up to comment! But- I didn't look at the date.

I voted no. Probably a good thing. I can play a simple game like Snood for hours and hours and can't walk away- think what would happen if it was a thinking game!
