Hey guys for all you guys that own Red Tail Boas is this a normal size? I'm thinking about getting it and i don't want it to be sick etc, they're getting rid of it because there teens going away to college. It looks nice to me but it's hard to tell through a picture anyways it's 3 years old unsexed and i think its a bit on the small side, in length not width. Anyways enough blabbling here's a picture of it.

It looks healthy at a glance, but you never can tell. My boas are both babies, so I'm not willing nor able to say for sure. And snakes can vary so much in size and still be healthy. If the snake is in your area, you should go see it and handle it before buying it. It's very pretty. Good luck and keep us updated if you do acquire this beauty.

I will she's only wanting 50$ for everything including tank etc.

That's a great deal if it's a healthy snake. There's just so many variables that could affect the snake's size, that it's difficult to say whether it's small. I love boas. Good luck!

I don't have any personal experience, but it has been my observation that they "bulk up" before lengthening up... part of the reason I went with a corn, I'm just not a big fan of a short stout snake, looks funny. Definitely worth checking her out though, and if lively and healthy then it's quite a deal!

My boa is three years old and weighs 6 pounds, not sure on the length. I'd say the one posted is fine for the age. Different feeding schedules mean different growth rates. I fed my boa once a week up until a year ago, so he grew faster than some might have.
