Rubbed nose

I just got a adult shipped to me with a very bad rubbed nose. The scale on the nose has been rubbed off and it is raw and red looking.

What should I do? How do I best treat this? Never had this happen before.

Will the nose scale ever grow back?

If I did anything, I'd put an antibiotic ointment on it. He will probably shed soon. I would _guess_ that the scale will reform.

I've heard, but don't know for sure, that if a snake is shipped in a generously-large bag, it is more likely to rub. If it is shipped in a small, tight bag, it is less likely to rub. But- I'd like to hear others' experiences. Since I heard that, I've been packing in smaller bags. I also put in lots of paper towels for hiding in- I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Thank you Naci.
The rub is really bad. Her nose is worn down to her nostrils and she is wheezing bad. She was shipped in a pillow case and it's full of blood (and other stuff  )

I just feel like crying. She was so beautiful in her photos :(

I'd take her to the vet I guess. I don't think it would cost much beyond the examination and maybe antibiotics.

She will be beautiful again. It will heal. Poor girl. No one could have predicted she'd do that.

I took one of my corns to the vet, and Nanci's right they'll just charge for the exam and maybe antibiotics if she needs them. We only got charged for the exam and some silver-somethingorother creme we had to put on twice a day. My little guy mangled his vent and while it was a real mess for a while, it did heal.

Agreed with everyone else. I had a bullsnake that had a bad nose rub, it healed up with a few sheds!
