rubbermaid lid clips?

I just bought 3 41 quart rubbermaid tubs for my yearlings, but am lost as to what kind of clips will work with this. What do you guys use and where can I order them? I found fluker's large lid clips on-line but they say they are for aquariums only:(

Some folks have had snakes escape from tubs with binder clips on them. I'm going the "heavy book" route until I finish my shelving.

go to the hardware store and pick up some small c clamps. they screw tight and untighten. so a snake cant undo them. you can get small ones cheap. if you dont want them get some regular clamps. the plastic small ones that look like a big clothespin with rubber feet on the clamp part. those are pretty strong too. what

I've heard the opposite, oh well. I've use binder clips for years and haven't had any escapes. Two on each side should do ya.

Thanks guys I got some binder clips last night, but I like the idea of the c-clamps even better so it looks like another trip to home depot!!

I think you've just solved my problem that I'm having with my new shelves. THANK YOU! :D

your welcome. if you dont like that idea you could drill a small hole into the lid and the upper lip of the tub a couple holes on each side. and get body panel clips from an auto parts store. or a small bolt and a wing nut if your really concerned. that or i also have used bungee chord tie down type things. the ones from hardware stores with the hooks on the ends. and put them under the lip on each side and run it over the top of the tub. also holds them down very well.

Sounds like you got some options to choose from. Thats a good thing. I've not been able to find clips for the aquariums that I have. Which are just 10gallon aquariums with screen tops on them that I had to buy separately from the tanks. I've gone to both pets stores here in town and have not been able to find ones that work or fit properly onto the screen tops/edges of the tanks. Now my 20 gallon long aquarium has clips that fit on just fine and keep it pretty tigtly shut. But those clips don't work for the 10 gallons. Have any suggestions for glass aquariums/screen lid clips? I need to get some before anymore of my younger snakes get away. Thanks!

are those hinged screen covers or just full one piece screen cover. and is it an acrylic tank or glass. if its acrylic there an easy fix. you could drill through the edge of the top that goes down over the sides. about 4 holes would do it on a 10g i think. then put the top on and carefully and slowly drill through the tank with barely putting any pressure on it so you dont crack it. then you can insert locking pins in those holes with a bigger head on them so they cant pull/push through. i think that could work. just have to spend a lot of time in the hardware store finding usable pins.

if its glass i have seen a guy on youtube use really powerful suction cups and have it basically bungee over all 4 corners. so 2 suction cups for corner on oposite sides of the tank and it had a metal wire that went over the screen top and held it down firmly. and he did this with boas. thats all i could think of if you couldnt find the clips to use on a smaller tank. look online. i know ive seen them for small tanks to use.

You could order 10 gallon clips from one of the online supply stores like Big Apple, LLL, etc. Takes a lot of the guess work out of it and probably costs the same as the gear you would be buying at the hardware store.

Are you bending them to fit? I've used both 20 gallon ones on 10 gallon tanks, and 10 gallon clips on 20's.... but those are real tight and take some mechanics to get off, lol... If you already have them laying around, just bend the larger clips in a bit at the creases and keep testing until they are tight...

I have one full set and only one clip for another enclosure. I can't for some reason find the other clip that came in the set when I bought it. Thanks for the tips. It helps.
