As for the biology dep't, it's a Christian college, and while it may not be a problem, some Christians have problems with snakes. i personally have no conviction about owning snakes but some people over-react a bit.lol.
I go to a Catholic school and I have already talked to my Bio teacher and most of the other science teachers about putting one of my baby snakes in their classrooms as a pet. The main reason on why they didn't like the idea was that "It would get out". I didn't want to argue with them because they are the people that I have to deal with until I graduate, so I dropped it.
Now that my Bio teacher knows I have snakes she is always asking how they are and she wants me to bring one in when we go over reptiles. I think that most teachers are skeptical at first about snakes in the classroom..and I am sure it is just the same in public schools. Actually now that I have seen how 'mature' most kids are I would never let my school have a snake if I was not still a student there. The mature thing is a whole different story...
