Sad

I was just down in the herp room doing a last check and found my very ancient mouse, Mocha, dead in his Igloo hide.

I've had Mocha since the fall of 2006, so he is way old by mouse standards...

He had a tumor growing on the side of his head, so I've know it was coming, but still... I feel very sad. It makes me feel a little silly to be tearing up over a mouse......... an ancient one at that. :(

Thanks David. It is bittersweet because I know at the end he was suffering. He died curled in the little hut I bought for him that he loved, so I know he went in his sleep and that is very good. But it's tough to see him go when I had him for so long.

Awww Lauren... :( I'm so sorry. I don't think it's stupid to be sad at all... I would be heartbroken.

RIP Mocha.

Lauren if any one was a good mouse mommy it was you! I have seen the way you keep all your animals. Even though it was just a mouse it was an animal you loved and cared for and that is what matters. ;)

I don't think it's silly at all. It doesn't matter if it is a mouse or a dog or your best friend; there's no shame in mourning the loss of someone you love. My condolences.

I'm so sorry Lauren and don't feel silly I cry about every animal I lose, even my fish. You had him a long time and obvisously took excellent care of him so he had the best life. My deepest condolences. RIP Mocha

Lauren, it's not silly to care for a mouse. I am sorry Mocha went, but there's nothing wrong with being sad about it.

RIP Mocha. One of my friends just had a pretty patched mouse I gave him pass away at almost 3 years old, so we were both feeling a bit sad over it last week.

Its not "just a mouse". He was special to you, thats all that matters... so dont feel silly!

I know what you are going through. It seems every couple months one of my rats passes and each one is heart breaking. I have an oldie now that starting to slow down.

Yeah, you never get used to it. I get physically ill when I lose one of my ratties....

I am so sorry you lost him...he wasn't "justamouse"....but to be cared for and mourned, he was a very lucky mouse!
