hey all, i just got an albino corn snake yesterday that is about 1-2 months old! i love the red/yellow colours to it , and i got a pretty nice terrarium set up for him/her? (still don't know that yet). im probably going to get flamed for this but im kinda scared to pick it up..yes sad i know, but true. also i tried offering it a pinky mouse today and it just slithered away from it. the person i got it from said its eating live already so i tried but nothing? maybe cause its scared of its new home because it was in a small container before? i don't know, ive researched tons before i got it so i think i have most things down pat. i also have a juvenile bearded dragon i got when it was about 3.5 weeks old and i love it, still fairly new to me also but much easier for me to handle since its not as scary ahahaha..some help would be greatly appreciated.

It is best to let it settle in for 7-10 days before handling or feeding. Just make sure he/she has plenty of fresh water.

It is natural for you to be scared. But your little snake is even more scared of you. Just realize it does not hurt at all to be bitten by a young corn snake. I have one that is a year old. She is going thru this thing where she has to bite me every time I pick her up. I barely feel it and it doesn't even draw blood.

Oh...as always...post pics of your new snakie if you can!

yeah i'll let it settle down a bit first cause the corn seems scared of pinkies too for some reason lol it hasnt been fed in over a week and a half tho, are you sure its okay to let it be for 7-10 days?

Yup. As long as you change the water, she should be alright for that length of time. You need to give her some time to adjust to her new surroundings! Jasper didn't eat for 2 weeks. One week before I got her, and one week after.

Are you feeding live, or thawed?

Oh and can we see pictures!? I love pictures.

Yes. Just wait 6 more days, then feed him/her.

You may have to leave the pinky in with your snake overnight. Sometimes young snakes need lots of time and privacy to eat. They are very vulnerable when they eat. Do you have a feeding container to feed your snake in?

yeah i got lots of containers it can be kept in to be fed, i just need to grow some damn balls and pick it up ahaha :) and i will get pics on ASAP with my girlfriends camera!

Corn snakes, by inclination, aren't biters. Or so I was told when I got mine!

As long as you're really gentle, you'll be fine. Make sure to spread your fingers out a bit so s/he has something to twine around.

What's her name?

(Pictures of her and the viv, please!)

dont know if its a female or male yet so im aiming towards a unisex name right now. maybe pebbles since my beardeds name is bambam. :D

Well if it's a Flintstones theme, then maybe "Dino" because if you get another bearded... a female one...

I was deathly afraid of snakes until I got my corn. I used some work gloves the first 2 times I handled him but after that it was cake. You'll be fine!

hey guys just wanted to say i i handled him hes a bit squirmish when your picking him up but after hes fine in my hands. got him a heatpad today which is under his hide rock on the left side of the tank and i have the cannibis leaves on the right. tried feeding him today again in his tank and seperate container and he acts like its not even there. feeding him live pinky, any help?

I would suggest feeding him a f/t pinkie in a separate container and leaving him a couple hours if not overnight. If that doesn't work there are many more ticks on this site.

i'm glad you handled ur corn!! my boyfriend and i have had our anery motley for a couple of months now, and i was terrified to pick it up! i had no problem holding it, but i was afraid it was going to bite me when i picked it up. it was so stupid cuz i know it doesn't hurt when they bite, but i was still afraid of it. finally i started picking it up bit by bit, and now i can do it no problem. so it'll get easier, i promise! good luck :)
