Scout's Progression Thread

I think he's heading into a shed cycle right now, so I probably should have waited for the photo shoot... but he's looking SO big and orange lately, I just couldn't resist! Can you believe how much he's grown??

I know, huh?! He just had this MAJOR growth spurt all of a sudden, and I was shocked at how he became a "man" overnight... you think he's ready for adult mice yet? He's feeding on hoppers still, and devours them like candy. :D

P.S. Sorry for all the hand shots, but I have two reasons for that... one is to show growth comparison, and the other is that he's Speedy Gonzalez when I put him down. ;)

A couple of months and sheds later... doesn't look that much different, aside from the flash washing out his color a bit. He's overdue for a meal upgrade, so I'll be starting him on adult mice pretty soon.

He's got some amazing patterns going...looks like 3 different segments. Scout is a handsome young mansnake.

Scout says thanks! :D He was sold as an "Aztec reverse Okeetee" - I think his top 1/3 looks like a reverse Okeetee, the middle looks Aztec, and the bottom looks like.... ummmm.... a regular amel? So he really is like three snakes in one, LOL.

It's been a few months since the last update, so thought I'd post a few more pics... he honestly hasn't changed that much, aside from getting FAT! He's even starting to develop hips, but I'm not really sure why - as he only gets a small (adult or large hopper) once every 7-10 days. Guess he's just a porker, LOL.

I've also noticed he has more of a peach ground-color, as opposed to the typical orange. Think that will change or get even more peach? I think he is beautiful, regardless!

I would cut him to feeding every 2 weeks if he is getting fat. My 08 amel had to go to every 2 weeks because he was getting round, no sign of hips just rounder than I liked. I love his pattern though awesome!

Thanks all! And I agree, his pattern & colors are pretty darned cool... I might let him mate with my amel girl (next year), and see what comes out. Is the Aztec pattern something that would pass down, or would that take another generation? Oh, and I'll try to cut back his feeding schedule as suggested - but he's such a pig, I'm sure that will NOT please him.
