Hi,

after much debate & reading through lots of posts regarding the horrific events that could happen from housing 2 corns together i have deided to house mine separatly.

It will be quite strange & just want to speak to people that have had to do the same ?

when i take one of mine out to handle the other notices right away that the other is gone from the viv & stares constantly untill i get him out too.

do u think they have gotton used to living with eachother and maybe there is a chance they will miss eachother ???

any advice would be gratefully recieved..

No I don't think so. I don't know that they have the capacity to "miss" each other. The other snake may just be watching to see if the other snake will be put back in.

Congrats on desiding to give the kids their own rooms :D
 
I agree with Preita, but if you are concerned, you could divide the vivarium (or a new one if yours isn't large enough) down the middle. That way they'd still see each other but wouldn't be able to do any harm. There are a couple of threads on here that will be able to help you if you decide to do that.
 
You have to think about the snakes nature. In the wild the only time they really want to see another snake is to breed, and after that they go their seperate ways. Snakes dont miss other snakes, if they did you would see them going around in packs in the wild like wolves. They might seem to like each other when kept together, but that almost always is just a case of them competing over a select spot. One mistake people do is to place human and dog or cat emotions onto snakes; whose minds dont work the same way. Cats, dogs, and people are pack animals; snakes are not so they dont need to love, show affection, mourn, and miss another snake or animal. In fact if it was their choise many would choose to not be in contact with you at all. When the other snake watches as you take one out, its not thinking about the other snake, and it would do the same thing if it was alone and you opened the cage and did things in there. Its just watching you, maybe even thinking about food.

I'm almost positive every time my snakes see me & stop moving they are trying to work out if I'm bringing a mouse :D I'm pretty sure that's all they think about.

Mice & possible escape, maybe poo. That's all thats on my snakes minds :D

I'm pretty sure my snake is saying....leave me alone. I want to stay warm. Daddies hands are cold. But he crawls onto my hands no prob. So food, poo, or food.....hardly escape. :grin01:

I know for one my perfect day would be to wake up, spend a few hours on the toilet reading mens health, eat a nice hearty breakfast, and have sex. Then I'd sleep for about 16 hours and repeat.

Ah, the life of a snake. Except im pretty sure they dont read mens health.
